What year did the Artist package option start?

Not referring to Artist 1,(2 etc) model. Just trying to remember when the Artist option (upgraded top, leather case, etc ) was launched. I had a C24 Artist in 2000 so I know it was around then. Does anyone know if there were Artist options in the 90s?

I know it was available in '99, as that is when I first bought one...

Introduced in the 1998 pricelist, for 1,200$, the artist package provided paua bird inlays, rosewood headstock veneer, artist grade flame or quilt and leather case.

That would be about 4 years after my Artist II and IV, IIRC.
