Neck Illusions

Here's an interesting product for your fretboard. Very unique idea to change it's look...click thru the samples, pretty cool designs. British and Texas flags, Cat's Eyes, Abstract Art, etc...

Some fun designs in there. Here's how they might look on yours :)

No disconnect...the black plastic control covers are installed by the manufacturer and the customer has no option. I have these on order as an inexpensive experiment to see if the feel actually changes, and if they do feel and look cheap then I just peel them off, no big deal, and something fun to do since I'm just a hobbyist, right? Maybe it's just hype...We'll know soon enough. I'll post pictures, etc.

Of course, these might be best on 'lower end' guitars for the players that do open mike nights, showcases, the occasional weekend gigs or worship/church sessions.

Actually, I think that's tailor-made for a borrowed guitar, just so you can watch the faces lock up when you tell people it's your mona loaner. If it sounds great, it's your mona loaner toner. And if you're locked in, you can say you're in the mona loaner toner zoner.

And that's my mona loaner toner zoner groaner. Probably better if you're a stoner.

The customer does have an option, but it’s an expensive one: Private Stock with matching covers. So it’s not like PRS won’t do it. They just make the option available on their high end guitars.

Or aftermarket. Nothing wrong with aftermarket, you can get nice stuff.

The disconnect, of course, is that plastic on the back of the guitar bugs ya, because it’s not wood, but inexpensive plastic stickers on the fretboard that cover up the wood don’t.

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong either way. It just seems a bit of an odd pairing.

The same tint/color of the rosewood fret board, no change to the action or feel. Not plastic, but a very, very thin membrane of a proprietary material. This is the 'matte' finish. Very innovative and creative idea for a lot of different guitars, and wide variety of wild abstract artwork available too. Endorsed by Vai and Batten. If it's good enough for them, then it's good enough for me. But some purists will recoil in horror.

And if it’s really good you get a boner.
