Controlling Gig Volume

We're still allowed to do Freebird? How is it that I didn't get that memo? :) Anyway, glad to hear that the mix stuff was sorted out.

For Les, I've been surprised at the sorts of venues that Motown (and even disco) goes over well. We did a Harley rally recently where two of the three biggest hits that we did were Brick House and Get Ready (the third was Born to be Wild, as might be expected...) So it's true that the crowd can surprise you sometimes....

The reason I mention Motown going over with crowds where you just wouldn't expect it is from my own gig experience a few years back.

The band only did originals (usually), in the alt rock vein, and the crowds were my kids' age. They were definitely there for the singer/songwriter we backed up.

But damned if they didn't all seem to go nuts when we threw in a Motown cover! And one time we did Thriller just for giggles and all hell broke loose, the whole room got up and started dancing and jumping around. So much fun!

Thriller would be perfect since we needed something to raise the dead. :flute:

I would love to have a brass quintet so we could do stuff like this...
