    PRS with Strat-like neck pickup

Vela. Maybe it's a bit more Tele sounding, with the pickup in back on, but that neck pickup is really need. It reminded me of the strat I had, but it's better. Otherwise the 513 has the strat pickup option.

Is it simply brand recognition and nostalgia why people keep buying Gibsons and Fenders?

Great replies guys! So in a way, the sound many heard as a kid dictated to them what they seek out in future guitars, as what a guitar should sound like is what their favorite people played. Likewise the people they see and the looks they associate with that sound further reinforce that stigma...

Yeah, but why don't people just buy Squiers and say to heck with it with Fenders? They will be supplied anywhere Fender sells products and you'll have the same guitar as Clapton, who himself said specs didn't really matter much. And Gilmour uses P90s right?

I get that strats and teles are good and cool guitars, but basically Squier and other knockoffs get you the same thing at a cheaper price, so excluding those, I don't think $500-1000 Fenders nearly stack up to PRS, Ibanez or ESP guitars. PRS offers you the solid, reliable, comfortable...

    NUGD: PRS S2 Vela

So I just got mine from online today! It's definitely interesting and I totally like it! First off, it's pretty light in comparison to my PRS Soapbar or Epiphone Special II. The pickups are very interesting! The neck pickup, the one that I thought would be the weirdest, is actually well...

Finding Right Guitar - New to PRS and this Forum

VELA ALL THE WAY! I just got mine from online today (I think there's one left for like $1000 on Reverb). You won't get more tones out of one guitar besides maybe like a 513 or something.... The two single coils are as opposite as can be, with the bridge one being real chimey and metallic and...

Need help deciding which PRS I should get

After playing my soapbar a while, I can concur with what others have said about it, it's an amazing pickup and I like that vintage angry, yet not mega distorted sound it can give you, but it's not the most versatile. I'd say it can handle more variety than a single coil, since my single coil...

    NUGD: PRS S2 Vela

Yeah... I couldn't wait... I just bought one :D. I'll let you know what it's like when I get it. I bought a SE Soapbar used and it's like perfect, so I didn't see why I wouldn't by a used Vela for $850 instead of $1400.

    NUGD: PRS S2 Vela

Thank you for that ESP!!! So I'm looking at the Vela as a potential next dream purchase. I love the way it looks. As you describes ESP, it sounds like a very versatile guitar, which is what I want. If I got a vela, could I sell my strat clone guitar and use this as a my only single coil guitar...

How to hook up my laptop to my guitar and amp with an audio interface

Thanks for your help guys! I had a sweet deal, but it went out of stock and stayed out of stock, so now I have to reconsider. Would a Behringer UM2 Audio interface do the same deal as the Focusrite Scarlet? They look similar, just the Behringer is simpler. I just want to clarify, I can't just...

Need help deciding which PRS I should get

I just bought a used PRS SE Soapbar from Guitar Center for $299 plus shipping and tax! I'm so excited!!!! And it's cherry red, my favorite color!!!! Now I just have to sell my other guitar to my brother :D. That dorko has a decent amp and a whole fancy speaker system for his house, but I asked...

How to hook up my laptop to my guitar and amp with an audio interface

I've been looking at Bias FX (a digital effects program) to be the end all for all those pedals I've always wanted, but I don't quite know how to hook up my laptop. Do you guys know of a good cheap audio interface that allows for a guitar cable input and output and USB? I don't need anything...

What to do with push-pull pots? Cool ideas??

OP I was wondering the same thing. I think I want a guitar with the coil split option, since it allows for more variety. But then, if I want a guitar that allows for a humbucker to be played with a single coil when in the middle position, I'm limited to the S2 Singlecut and S2 Vela. Is it cool...

Challenge: Create a $150 guitar that's different and better than those on the market at that price

So THAT's how they do it... I was wondering... I guess $150 is too far of a reach to make something ethically and with decent quality. So let's bump it to $250, do you think you could design a solid yet simple guitar for that price? I think the 1 high output decent quality pickup would be key...

Challenge: Create a $150 guitar that's different and better than those on the market at that price

So apparently pleasing the wife seems to be a much bigger issue than coming up with $150 on this forum :D I wasn't suggesting that PRS should make a $150 guitar or anything, it was just more of a thought exercise as to when it comes push to shove, what really are the key parts to a guitar when...
