She's not the sort to play along. If she gets wise, it'll cost me a Louis Vuitton purse.

Thanks, everyone. I did a little minor maintenance and swapped the JB/Jazz set that it came back with for a DiM 39th set. The shop I originally bought it from had swapped the 57/08s out before I bought it for a set of 59/09s, which I liked enough, but tbh, the DiM 39th PAFs are absolutely...

    NGD - sort of

Bought this new back about 3yrs ago. Sold it after about a year, and regretted it ever since. I was perusing the local classified website last weekend, and lo and behold, there it was, being sold by the second owner. I snapped it up right away. It was in essentially the same condition as when I...

    Coil split/tap of 57/08 Humbucker

The HFS/VB, Dragons & all others compatible with the 5-way switch do indeed have r/w/b/braid wiring configuration. Those such as the McCartys and 53/10 have only black/white/braid. They are not 5-way compatible. I mention those 2 pickups specifically because I just swapped McCartys for 53/10s on...

Sorry for the poor lighting. Macro photos are not my strength.

    Cracked Trem Block

The casting on the new one and old one appears identical, but the saddles are much rougher than the new one or those on my CE24. A close look reveals a the old one is a bit rougher around the pivot screws as well. I just took a look at my '97 CE24, and it has a brass block. Clearly this old trem...

    Cracked Trem Block

Hmm. I took a photo, but I'm not permitted (yet) to post it. On a side note, the new bridge intonates easier than the original (more reasonable saddle adjustments), and I still can't figure out why none of the 3 PRS trem arms I have fits the old insert. It's almost as if the old trem does not...

    Cracked Trem Block

Yes, I checked everything. I'm no stranger to proper guitar setup. I can't say the same for the previous owner, though. Judging from the damage to both the trem block and a couple of the knife edges, I suspect tremendous force was used at one point.

    Cracked Trem Block

Earlier this year, I purchased a used '05 SAS for a great price. I spent quite a bit of time fixing the setup, as the trem had been screwed right down to the body. No matter what I did, i couldn't get the trem arm into the trem itself. Finally, I got a brand new PRS trem (didn't trust the...

    NGD - First PRS

Lovely guitar! I passed up a chance to buy an older McCarty Soapbar late last year, and I still regret it. I didn't let a similar opportunity pass this year though with an underpriced '05 SAS.
