    New CE 24 today

I played a CE24 the other in a local shop. It was ok, the top was not great; however, the neck and fretwork did seem better than my 2021 SE Cu24. It just had a more premium, quality, feel to it (as it should) than about any SE I've played. S2 is another can of worms. However, for a price tag of...

Is it me or did the price of S2s go up 300 bucks????

So it really just begs the question, is the S2 line really that much better than the SE line? At this point I would vote no.. They share the same electronics, and most likely similar build methods. I bought a Custom 24 SE 2021 model for about half of what a similar S2 costs, and its a gem.

Is it me or did the price of S2s go up 300 bucks????

yes, apparently they have. All the while decreasing in quality (yes fine, blame it on covid). Believe me, I've been through a few brand new S2s recently. I finally went back to the SE line and said screw it (which also went up in price but much less so). However, I've seen some pretty horrendous...

    Beater SE's

You know, its really hit and miss, as you're sort of implying. I just bought a brand new Zack Myers SE from a local dealer, its very nice, there is a small "issue" with where the used a small piece of long triangle shaped wood to 'fill a gap' I suppose. However, its fine, because the rest of the...

    S2 Standard 22 2019

Picked up a new S2 standard 22 in walnut from a shop down south. Its a 2019 model, but i would rather have that then whats been coming out of the 'covid version' of the PRS factories these days. Mind you, this is effecting every manufacturer it seems from what I've seen and heard, so I'm not...

    S2 Standard 22 2019

So I'm discovering the stain finished S2 stnd 24, I'm really tempted, about $1000 for a brand new one in tobacco. The only reservation I have is the thinness of the finish. I do like the satin look and feel, however I am kind of concerned about its durability being only 1 mil thick. Anyone have...

PRS Paul's Guitar SE nut replacement question.

yes, I find it very bizarre that they'd go cheap on something so inexpensive as a string nut, but yet that small thing is so vital to the guitar. *shrug* Same could be said about the tuners.

    S2 Standard 22 2019

That is an option, It is a bit confusing however how they change out the PUPs from year to year.

What's up with PRS Customer Support?

I actually call them and surprisingly get to talk to someone. However, solving issues on the phone is usually not a thing. Its always "send it in". I recently called about an issues with a Vela. In which case they're extremely backed up in the service department. PRS is not a company you want to...

PRS Paul's Guitar SE nut replacement question.

Until recently SE models (both standard and custom) have used plastic nuts. I know I had some hell of a time with tuning issues on my older se custom 22 with a plastic nut. I replaced the plastic with a core nut. Now some of them are some blend of graphite or Synthetic/Bronze powder blend...

    S2 Standard 22 2019

So, there's a couple 2019 S2 stnd 22 models in white left over in a local guitar store the manager may let go for around $1000. They've been hanging there for forever and a day. They sport 85/15 S PUPs, and the finish appears to be poly instead of nitro. I've had in a my possession, for a short...

SE Custom 24 vs. SE 24-08 pickups

So, the 24-08 sports the "TCI" pickups. However, does anyone know if they are basically the same 85/15 S PUPs with just switching added to allow for a true single coil, or are they actually tuned across the board for a better sound overall? I've played the Custom 24, sounds good, haven't gotten...

    prs se standard

The Standard SE line is mahogany neck and body. The SE custom line is mahogany core with a maple top, and either a maple of mahogany neck depending on the model. I've has both the custom 22 and Standard 24. There really wasn't a lot of difference in the sound, same PUPs, and the necks were both...

    Nitrocellulose Finish

I had a S2 Mccarty thinline with a nitro finish in blue recently. I sent it back because of some paint flaws. However, the finish seemed very well cured (IE not sticky or tacky). The Gibson LP studio I bought however is somewhat sticky and even emits a somewhat strong odor. The Mccarty had no...
