I'll bet those glitter inlays couldn't have been too much fun to work with and the shop cleanup costs (because glitter gets EVERYWHERE) were a factor in the labor cost of the instrument...
RE that one pickup Custom 24...does this mean spec customization is back on the menu? Can my dream of a...
Perhaps they saw Sergio and I badmouthing the PS team for dropping customized specs as an option over in another thread and figured "screw it"...:(
Sorry guys, if this is truly the case.
They had variants on Santana's model for a while. There's no reason they couldn't do variants for Grissom's.
Given the model's popularity I'd say it's an untapped market. Not everyone can swing a Private Stock and they don't allow spec customization anymore anyway. They're basically a glorified...
The SEs are great guitars for what they are, but they are IMO just a toe-dip into the PRS experience. You get the bird inlays, the shape of the body and the feel of the scale length, but you don't the same construction of the body (a much thinner maple top on the Customs and the figuring is a...
The pickguard on the S2 Standards really improves the look of the asymmetrical beveling, but on the Customs you just have a blank empty space that just makes the unevenness of the beveling all the more obvious. A pickguard would really improve that.

If I'm dropping five figures on a guitar, it'd better be...
Guys, I thank you for the encouraging words, but honestly it would be better for me to choose one of the first two options. I really to focus on saving money to move, because though it's embarrassing for me to admit, this will be the first time I've moved out on my own (but it's not for lack of...
Personally, I think the idea that each guitar must have its own "signature tone" is kind of outdated. I don't want to sound like I'm playing a particular guitar to people; it invites gear judgements and takes the focus off the music.
The Japanese guitar industry in the 70s is holding on Line 1.
Something I posted over on TGP on the 40+ page "Why Do People Hate PRS?" thread:
Me: "I play a PRS"
Other musicians IRL: "Oh, nice/cool/wow"
Other musicians on the internet:: "Your guitar has no soul, get a...
