    The "Official Silver Sky" Thread

I agree this guitar sounds more hifi, thin on the smallest strings especially and at the heel end than it should do. I am a hardware manufacturer ( let me declare my bias) but believe it is in part e to the trem being elevated off the body at the front and then decked on crystallized plastic at...

Mann 2000NOS vs Wudtone DD bridges

Firstly thank you to @swede71 for the kind words. Wudtone have supplied thousands of tremolos over several years now to Strat players and delighted everyone on them with zero tuning issues whilst enhancing the dynamic efficiency of their guitars. Tuning is stable because the design deals with...

Mann 2000NOS vs Wudtone DD bridges

Just in case there is a misunderstanding here. Only the block of the Wudtone PRS DD Upgrade is made from 1018 cold steel ( a brass option is also available at no extra), the 1018 cold steel is the recommended option for max dynamic, detail and clarity. The bridge plate itself made from C75...

Mann 2000NOS vs Wudtone DD bridges

The use of a deeper rear bar for the intonation screws and accurate fit ensures there is no lateral movement of saddles with the Wudtone PRS DD upgrade.

Mann 2000NOS vs Wudtone DD bridges

May be a misunderstanding in this comment as the Wudtone PRS DD upgrade employs a 5mm diameter stainless steel trem arm. In the pic below it appears to be slightly beefier than the trem arm of a core PRS bridge. PRS core bridge on the left , Wudtone on the right. The arm pictured is a 5 1/4...

New weapon of choice for playing Thin Lizzy

Grew up to Thin Lizzy and still a huge inspiration when it comes to guitar based music. Played Les Paul's for some 25 years, but getting older (and not playing as often) the thicker neck heel / body joint of a Les Paul is now a bit too much of a handful to get around ( literally). Really do...

does a floyd rose reduce the gain and frequencies ?

maybe you are right, another video here , starting with more of the tone and vol backed off, its on facebook so not sure if you can see it, To be fair this guitar plays lovely, IMHO it does have good Les Paul esque, grunt and bite, headroom, and you hear this being kicked in at - 59 and...

does a floyd rose reduce the gain and frequencies ?

The guitar in the 2nd vid is only the 3rd PRS I've had, it cost me less than £900 (had no pickups). For a humbucker equipped set neck, mahogany maple combo, I used to play Gibson R9, but I find it hard to get around the thick heel /body for leads nowadays. So the combo of PRS, lovely looks, top...

does a floyd rose reduce the gain and frequencies ?

You can get near Floyd like scope ( on a PRS, eg CU22, 24 ) with the PRS DD upgrade from Wudtone and have all the PRS goodies like better upper fret access. The Wudtone has a full 20degree tilt capability. It will also shift the dynamic/ tone to be more Les Paul tone. In terms of trem scope it...

    my PRS CU22 with mods

Happy New Year to all you PRS fans, count me in. Bought this in autumn as a Les Paul replacement for playing Lizzy type music. I really do appreciate the better upper fret access compared to the handful of heel/neck on a Les paul. Indeed there are leads I just can't play on a Les Paul anymore...
