The Great Blue Guitar Thread

That was because I first tried the actual image address. Since the site won't accept that, I put in the link to a page I created that contains the image. If there's some incantation that will make the actual image address display the image, rather than present the error message saying "Image cannot be loaded from the passed link", that would be worth knowing. I suspect though that this site has a short list of approved sites to load images from, so it won't load an image from anywhere else. Just a guess.
Two things:
1. As @alantig noted, the path must end in a web image extension (.jpg, .gif, .png, etc.)
2. It must be from a https site. It WILL show for SOME users using a http site, but other users will not be able to see it because it will be considered "mixed content" where http and https content are displayed on the same page.

The fact that it rejected your initial attempts to post it indicate to me it is an issue with the #2 above, but that does not explain why Alan was able to post an image from that same site. It could be due to his browser settings compared to your browser setting. Something to the effect of his browser settings will allow mixed content and yours will not. I just tried to use the link to one of your photos ( http: // www. transpect.com/blue/blue_guitars_s.jpg ) and it gave me the same message as you are getting. Here are some print screens to document this issue.

AFIK, there is no set list of sites for photos like there is for videos. I host all of my pictures at my own site and spent a couple of weeks in 2021 trying to figure out why they were showing for me and some other users, but not showing for the rest of the users. Turns out it was mixed content issue and browser settings. I secured a https certificate for my site where I host the pix and all was good.

Here is a link to the latest post from Admin on the topic of pictures on the PRS forum, feel free to contact that administrator (@james) if you have further questions about what is allowed and what is not. Best I can tell, no official list of requirements for picture posting exists that I am aware of. I tried to cover all restrictions/rules that I am aware of in the video, post and pdf tutorials I produced available at this link. At that link, there are also links to all other picture posting tutorials that I am aware of including that latest one from Admin @james . Also note that in the admin post response to my suggestions/notation of the details on this topic, admin noted the following:
then i'm sure you understand in 2024 https:// is not exactly optional. it's the standard
Although https may be the standard (and will likely soon be the required protocol for a site to be returned in search results from Google and other engines), the insert image dialogue box above from the print screen still indicates/suggests that we should be using the http:// protocol (see red border in image above), NOT the https:// protocol.

I am happy to help as well if you have any questions that go unanswered or can not figure something out, feel free to PM me so we don't have to deal with comments about how easy it is to post pix here.

Great new guitar! Congrats and thanks for sharing the photos!!

Ah, it must be https. That makes sense. Only thing to wish for is an error message from here or the browser that says that plainly. Thanks!

Daphne Blue, nice
They are still calling it peacock blue, but to me the color seems a little different to earlier models I have seen. I’m totally happy with the color, just surprised that it seems different.

Well, I ordered it mid December, and finally got it this week! Had to give it a basic set up, dress the fret ends, and polish the frets because I’m a little obsessed with silky smooth frets.
Overall I’m loving my first PRS! I purchased it through Sweetwater, but did not get to choose the serial number as they were all sold by pre orders. From pictures I have seen, I think I got lucky with the color and figuring on mine.
I really like the tones from the mag pups as well as the Piezo. I do not have an acoustic amp, but I do have a nice 150w JBL powered speaker that I played through. Without any EQ or reverb it sounds good enough for my needs. The humbuckers definitely have a totally different sound than my other humbucker equipped guitars, which I really like. There is a used hollow body II at a nearby guitar center, so I think I will go torture myself and play it so I can compare the differences between the Core and SE models.
I guess I should have posted this in the introduction thread, but since I believe this thread was my first post, I will just introduce myself now.
My name is Todd. I am a professional pastry chef of 35 years and have been teaching at the Culinary Institute of America for the last 24 years. I have been playing guitar on and off since the late 70’s, but have been hardcore practicing everyday for the last ten years. I like most genres of music, but my passion is blues and classic rock. I definitely have a thing for hollow/semi hollow body guitars as my first guitar was a made in Japan 77 Ibanez Artist semi hollow ( I believe it was the ES 335 law suit guitar). I think I posted a pic sweetwater sent me of my PRS, but here is the guitar in it’s new home.
I am happy I found this forum as everyone seems to be very nice and respectful.
