Tell me about a new neck

I have a P245 Semi hollow and was thinking about going to a pattern thin neck, no binding.

I am a little scared by the thought of my PRS being torn to pieces and rebuilt.

Any considerations before making the plunge?

If the PTC are doing it, then I wouldn't be concerned at all.

Not sure who you have doing it. If it were me, because I have an P245 SH, I'd send it to the PTC for a re-carve. I'd trust them for sure.

From what I understand, the PTC will recarve your neck and refinish it, but not replace it. You're suck with the binding.

Will they refret it as well? I want to get a santana and get a pattern thin neck with smaller frets. Would this be two separate charges for the neck recarve and the refret?

You should probably just call them and get a price quote.

Your right - Didn't Shawn quote Paul as saying the PTC doesn't sell new necks or bodies and that if it cant be rebuilt then it gets scrapped. I assume in 99.9% of cases they can rebuild anything though!
