Being a GAS sufferer, last week I aquired a Studio. Beautiful guitar outstanding construction, marvelous playng. The funny thing (not necessarily a bad thing) the Studio´s 58/15 LT on the bridge sounded notoriously different, less gain but also with less pronounced higs, from the one on my Mccarthy 594. Pickup heights adjusted, sound remains different. Ok, different bridges different string vibration, different tone. Decided to go further on this subject I put the multimeter on the output jack and the Mccarthy reads 7.62/5.15 khoms (hum/tap) and the Studio 7.07/4.89. I applied for Mr. Henry help and the Mccarthy read 4.06/2.17 henries while the Studio 4.13/2.27 (hum/tap).
One could say, oh it is within a normal 10% range, but for pickups that are so cherished it seems to me rather awkward, considering the tone difference. In any case this is not a complain since I much prefer to have guitars with different tones; just a bit of knowledge for the comunnity!
