S2 Mira Wiring

Hi, the 3 way switch on my S2 Mira is busted and I want to replace it.

I have a CRL 3-way which I believe will work fine, but the stock switch has a black wire that goes from the side of the switch to the back of the volume pot.

I can't figure out what this does as it does not seem to create a connection to anything else? Perhaps this is just a way to ground the side of the switch? Not sure why that would be needed.

Can someone explain what this does and where I should attached this wire to the CRL switch?

Wouldn't that be your output from the switch? Not familiar with the CRL, so I'm no help there (or much of anywhere man, as the forum members will testify).
