...are for sale now at the PRS shop.
i'd like to swap the vintage tuners in my mcrosie for those.

what mods have to be done for Phase III?

The footprint is different so you would need newly drilled holes and the old ones filled if that would bother you cosmetically...

this could be an alternative...

I believe PTC has developed a way to incorporate new tuners in the original housings so you wouldnt have to change your footprints

i guess the phase 3s would just need a shorter axis for mccarty headstocks.
what do you think, shawn?

too strange!
i found a PS mccarty at TGS with phase 3s and brent was so kind to measure the headstock thickness for me!
9/16" that is 14.28mm - my mcrosie reads 14.05mm !!!
the difference is about 2 human hairs.
so i don't see a reason why they shouldn't work there.

some counterarguments?

From another thread about the same topic...

The Phase III's aren't a direct replacemnet for the Vintage Style tuners either. The shaft on the Phase III tuners is longer than the shaft of the vintage tuners, so if if Phase III's are installed, it will change the angle the strings cross over the nut resulting in very little downforce on the nut.
