Bought a Custom 24 SE from GC

When GC gives us a large order they request that the SE’s are shipped “Less Bag”. But if a customer places a special order for a SKU that GC doesn’t normally carry, that guitar will show up to the store WITH a gig bag. Most of the SE’s GC receives don’t come with a gig bag.

Thanks, Shawn...I have a bad taste in my mouth from many of the local GCs, so I assumed that they were hoarding bags, kinda like the Underpants Gnomes. I stand corrected :)

Thanks to Hans for a good thread content memory, and thanks to Shawn for the definitive answer (again).

To answer questions the guitar seems new but I do think someone changed the strings to as someone said 11s.
The tech did adjust the truss rod in the store for me when I commented on the action. Should have been a clue that there was a problem but I was in a bit of a hurry , it was loud in there and I figured if it wasn't good I could take it back.
The gig bag is a non issue for me I bought it knowing that GC. Was providing one ( I can't see paying 700.00 for a guitar and not getting at least a bag but at the price I paid, ok).
I am planning on taking it back to the store today to try and work it out, I may call the mgr 1st.

One if the things I hate about GC is how the tech is paid. Basically unless the customer is charged a few for the service the tech doesn't get paid. So they don't want to do it.

It's a bummer that they do this, but I have to admit, for that guitar, even without the gig bag, it's a heck of a deal. Someone like me, walking in with plenty of cases sitting around at home, I'd buy that guitar up at 30% off normal price and walk out with a smile on my face (assuming it was set up right - no offense at all to the OP, it's just one of those things you learn from experience to check for).

I've bought one SE guitar with gig bag from GC, and one without. When I bought my 25th SE, right before I paid I asked for the gig bag - the sales guy looked a little annoyed, but got it for me, I assume because I was paying close to full price and they knew they weren't gonna get away with selling a guitar at the same price as other stores and then screwing me on the gig bag. When I got my Akesson, it was already marked down quite a bit, but I asked for the gig bag and it was a no-go. Lucky for that sales guy I really liked the guitar. I think it all comes down to how good of a deal you're getting, if you're saving 200 and can live without the case, do it, or spend 50 bucks and getcha a decent gig bag. Still saving a lot of coin. It used to get me a lot more worked up when I heard about GC selling naked SE's, but if you want a deal...

I'm not down with that at all. Be accountable for your decisions.

If you bought it knowing there was no gig bag but now you want one, fine. Return it and negotiate a new deal that includes one.
Unbelievable! Still with the condescending and negative comments? Geez, time to move on. I solved my issue with the bag months ago. GC understood my problem and did the right thing to satisfy their customer. I appreciated their level of service and have since purchased 2 additional Maryland PRS's and quite a few other items from them. I enjoy my PRS guitars and this forum. What I don't enjoy, are the bullying tactics used to quell criticism here.

With GC's return policy it's tough to say what the history of a guitar is when you buy it "new" from them. In 2006 before I bought my black CU22 I played a CE22 at GC that looked like some punk band had bought it, went on a very rough four week tour with it and then returned it. GC was selling it as new, but there were chunks taken out of the paint, the strings were 12s with a wound G and the action was ridiculously high. That was the only CE I could find locally and it was in such bad shape that I didn't even plug it in to compare it tonally. Who knows, I could have been a CE enthusiast all this time.

Hey bud, don't let it get to you. There is definitely a clique-mentality here with a high sensitivity to dissenting opinions. You would think any feedback, whether negative or positive, would be a welcomed benefit to the company, but that's really not the case around here. Many feel the need to kiss the proverbial butt of PRS and defend their reputation at all costs. And if you have a disagreement with one of the mods or long-time PRS fanbois, you will probably be attacked/shunned by others in the clique. I absolutely LOVE PRS, but not to the point of losing the ability to be objective. Aside from that, there are some pretty awesome people in this forum with lots of knowledge. Just ignore the bad ones.

You may already know, but there is a site called VintageRocker.com where more unbiased PRS discussion is allowed. You'll notice many members there are not members here, presumably for the reasons I mentioned. Check it out if you haven't already. Glad you got your gig bag sorted out.

Is this a serious comment? I'm a member at both forums, and I don't think this forum is biased at ALL!! In fact, they have gone to great lengths to NOT squash ANY legitimate criticism of PRS as a company...the only squashing I've seen is stuff that is going after individuals on the forum itself.

I'm sorry to hear you feel this way....there is much less heavy handedness here than ANY other forum I'm a part of.

Wow, funny how differently people take things, I thought it was a fair comment. In fact, I thought it was a rather obvious point.

Don't people usually negotiate deals based on what is included in the price and what isn't? I know I certainly do.

Thanks! At least "we" agree! LOL!

Couldn't agree more, Ang. I think the vast majority appreciate what we have here and how unique it is.

Yes, that underlined, bolded part is what I'm referring to. Squashing individuals on here for being critical of PRS isn't really the best way to foster healthy discussion. This is only my opinion, nothing to be sorry about dude. :)

I've read this entire thread. I see ZERO condescension nor negative comments (save for those directed to GC's selling policies).

The OP asked for comments and suggestions. He received them.

You seem to be the one stirring up trouble. I cannot fathom why...

Not every Forum meets everyone's expectations. Stay if you want, leave if you must. But to bash people here and heap praises on another forum is truly bad form.

But funny you should mention that some folks over there are not members here. That is their choice. Very few folks have been banned from this forum. It's a shame it doesn't always work that way...

I think it's fairly amusing that most of the criticism that gets aimed at the company PRS Guitars actually belongs on the shoulders of the individual making the purchase and the dealer they have chosen to purchase.

Rarely is the issue regarding quality of product. Much more so it revolves around the business practices of said dealer and the want for PRS to swoop in and bail someone out of a poor buying choice.

Like minded people tend to align naturally so if there is a clique here I would surmise it is strictly a PRS Guitars clique, rather than an angry mob of fanbois that run people with an issue out of town on a rail. I can only speak for myself, but I come here because I love PRS guitars and I enjoy interaction with others who do as well.

Well said Jon.
I think most of us here realize this is the PRS provided forum and hence criticisms are offered in a positive constructive manner.
When I'm a guest in someone's house, I don't berate them in front of other guests if I have an issue with them. Not only impolite, but an ineffective way to seek resolution.
