Archon Buzz

I just purchased the PRS Archon 50 MkII combo. It has quite the buzz going. I've tried everything I can think of to quiet it down. Running straight in, using the 4-cable noise gate method etc... Nothing seems to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try swapping some preamp tubes, if that doesn’t work I’d return it.

Checking the tubes is definitely worth it, even if you have the dealer do it. Tubes go bad - some go bad slow, some go bad very fast. It happens.

Tubes can get damaged in shipping quite easily. If it's a tube, it's no big deal, and the dealer should replace it at PRS' expense. PRS doesn't make tubes, and the Chinese and Russian tubes are notoriously bad.

If it's not a tube, all bets are off.

How's the power in your wall? Presumably other tube amps plugged into that same socket are not as noisy?
