Do all new single-cut guitars get a single-cut specific case from the factory or is the multi-fit case ever used? Just curious as I have seen new SC 594's for sale with a single cut specific case, but there is only a multi-fit case available as an accessory from PRS?
Never had this issue with my Bernie, but replacing the original bridge with a Mannmade adjustable stoptail bridge was a big improvement in sustain. It's not cheap, but you pay for quality.
I was asking the same question recently as I was upgrading the pickups in my SE Bernie Marsden to PRS 57/08s and was tempted to buy a Jackson Luthier Works harness as they look very high quality. In the end I decided to leave the original alpha pots in place as everything was working fine. If...
Try contacting John Mann's Guitar Vault, they stock a large quantity of PRS guitar should be able to help. Arkansas Music Works also stock a large range of PRS guitar parts.
Didn't have much time to play yet, but they sound very nice, much fuller than the original G&B pickups. When I get the new screws I'll be able to adjust the pickup and pole heights properly and I'm sure they'll sound even better and will decide whether to keep the out of phase wiring or not.
Pickups wired in, but were accidently wired out of phase with eachother. I thought it sounded out of phase in middle position and neck hot and ground are mixed up. But, it sounds great, so leaving as it. Lovely out of phase sound, and not much volume drop. Much better than when I did the...
Just installing my new set of 57/08 pickups into my Bernie and found that the pickups are long legged and the pickup height adjustment screws that came with the pickups are the same length as the original pickup screws. I cant get the bridge pickup lowered sufficiently. The screws that came...
The Alpha pots in the guitar are all working fine so will leave them for now. Beastbuckers order didn't work out so have a set of 57/08's on the way from Thomann now. Hoping they will work well with the Bernie.
I reamed out the holes on the pickguard for my strat when I installed CTS pots and I was OK with this but dont want to go near to holes on the top of my Bernie in case I made a mistake. There are metric sized CTS pots available which will fit the existing metric holes without reaming but I...
Wasn't planning on changing capacitance value, was thinking an orange drop capacitor would be better quality but agree there is no real point changing the original cap. Don't think my tinnitus ears would detect any difference in tone.:)
Thanks for the feedback guys.
I got CTS pots installed in my MIJ strat when I upgraded the pickups and they are freer than the alpha pots in the Bernie, but I prefer the feel of alpha pots. Think I'll leave the original pots in place.
I have the standard Bernie with the regular SE pickups which I am going to replace, but I was asking about the upgraded Bernie model with the 53/10's to find out if these models have Alpha pots.
This has probably been discussed before but can't find any specific threads. I'm waiting on my new pickups for my PRS SE Bernie and was planning on keeping the existing alpha pots as I don't want to ream out the holes on the top. It is possible to get metric sized CTS pots, but is there...
