Would these fretboard binding cracks concern you?

Circled in the picture are some fretboard binding cracks on the 16th and 17th frets of my new guitar. They're not lines that rub off, don't seem deep, and can catch a fingernail running over them.

Not really wanting to nitpick as I love the guitar for what it is that I was able to afford. It's actually the only one of it's make model and color that I was able to find available to buy new without it having been dinged up as a floor model or returned to Guitar Center / Musician's Friend after being worn and torn.

But would this be something over which you'd worry about it becoming worse in the future?

Kinda feeling like someday if I get my dream electric guitar ( high end custom usa made PRS ) I will demand more perfection, but that potential someday is a long way off, and in the meantime with this guitar I'm just happy I was able to acquire it for what I was able to pay.

But would you expect these little cracks to be the start of something becoming worse?

Well it's a brand new guitar I acquired 10 days ago. Was never a floor model, it was just in storage, possibly for a few years as these were made in 2020. So I couldn't possibly be guilty of already having neglected it. 🧐 I think what you're noticing is it's got some pretty bright areas for an ebony fretboard. The ebony fretboards on my Taylor and my Breedlove are totally black.

If you zoom in on what's circled you can see the fine lines on the fretboard binding on 16th and 17th frets.

I will oil as I change strings soon.

😆 No, I don't think it needs to be sent back. The dinged up one with the broken pickup switch from Guitar Center was sent back, this one is mine for keeps. I had two of them for a few days, see pic below. My inquiry was more to ask if anyone has seen something so slight become worse / is it the start of a worsening problem, what level of meticulousness are people generally demanding from these guitars at the high and low end models, etc.

I will be more anal and demanding of a future guitar, this one here functions for me now.

😇 The subject of guitars has invoked the zooming in capabilities of many. I'm not the only one.

All that's left to do is put all that precision back into the playing of the instrument.
