I am replacing the electronics in my S2 Custom 24 to core electronics. My question is, is there any reason to replace the original wires? It would be easier to just keep original wires in place and replace one component at a time. But if there is a good reason to upgrade the actual wires I'm open to it.

Not sure if the wires in an S2 are the same as whats used in core models.

I personally wouldn't feel the need... Doubtful they used any wire/cabling that would be suspect to make a major tonal difference/introduce noise on the S2 line.
Pickups is one thing, but I'd least suspect the wire/cabling.

No need. The tone caps and push pull pots they use are nice quality, too. I would just do the volume pot and the switch.
