A few years ago PRS released whale blue versions of the 245 singlecut and the custom 24.

It was a gray based version and they were beautiful.

I nearly bought a custom but passed on it cause I wanted the 245. I never found them for sale locally, and I balked at buying online.

I’ve been searching for awhile and I can never find them.

What a bummer!

SE’s correct? If so I’m sure they made quite a few of them. I have seen the SE245 in that color on the verb from time to time. Might have been Japanese market colors but don’t know that for sure just thinking out loud. Good luck in your search.

A quick search of Reverb.com shows a few of the SE Custom models (though 24-fret ones, not the 22-fret as pictured above) and they seem to be tagged as being the color "sapphire." Though, the hues do seem to vary quite a bit, with the ones you've pictured being the best in my opinion. I cannot seem to find the SE 245... that one would be pretty sweet.

EDIT: My bad... some of those SE 245 models will show up on a Google search using Whale Blue as the color. I'm thinking that PRS doesn't stick as religiously to specific color names with their SE line.

Video caption says "4 years ago" and Birdsofprey might be right that is was for a specific market (UK?):

I saw them here in colorado for a few months brand new. I think it’s the best whale blue version they’ve had.

I have an se 594 with the “faded blue” finish that looks way more blue than anything faded. Sometimes I wonder how they decide on color names.
