This is a from a 2015 SE Standard 24 with HFS/VB pickups. I just bought this off Reverb. The seller had installed different pickups but re-installed the HFS/VB's for the sale. It just doesn't sound quite right to me. When in humbucking mode it kind of sounds like a single coil. Pull the coil tap and it does sound different, mostly thinner and quieter.
Took a look at the wiring and besides the poor soldering, all the green&white wires are soldered to the same lug. Is this correct.

Thanks for any info you can impart.

Sorry, I don't know why the photo didn't post. I hate technology.

Both Green and white should be going to the same lug of the PPS red should got to the 3 way switch and black to ground. if the previous owner did a bad solder job, that will effect how it sounds. Solder joints should look shiny with minimum of solder, Big grey balls of solder just don't transmit signal properly.

each pair of green/white wires should go to a seperate lug on the PPS, not the same one.

Thanks Wakester, I'm no EE but I thought that was wrong. All four green and whites are soldered to upper left lug as you look at the photo. There is old solder on the two middle lugs so I'm assuming that's where those green/white pairs go. I'll probably replace the whole thing with a pre-wired rig, but I might try to re-solder the PPS in the mean time.

I'm not familiar with that PPS, but I think uou are on the right track. Green white pair to the center lug, capacitor to one of the outer lugs and ground to the third. I think. There is a thread with the wiring diagram somewhere.

Thanks again Wakester. I'm still trying to figure out what's going on with the whole wiring situation. I think I'm in for some serious wiring education.

OK, thanks to Wakester, MrTail, and Garret I was able to get my SE standard wired up so it works and sounds as it is supposed to. In my case the HFS - Red/ground
Black&Bare/hot
Green&White/splits

VB- Red/hot
Black&Bare/ground
Green/white/splits
As usual all the answers were here. This is a great forum!
