Hi all,

New to the forum and new to doing work myself, but I'll be damned if I don't try to learn how to take care of my own instrument. I'm decent with a soldering iron, so why not replace my own pickups?

The issue is, I can't seem to find any wiring diagrams for putting in my 4-conductor SD APIIs into my SE, which has a 3 way switch and a push-pull tone pot.

It would seem that this is close (from the SD website), but we all know the SE 3-way blade looks nothing like this: http://www.seymourduncan.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/2H_3B_1V_1TppSPL.jpg

Plus the original PRS wiring had a few connections on the blade that don't seem to match up with what I'm seeing in the SD diagram.

I know I should be able to do this on my own, but I have failed. There's no sound coming out. I'm considering stripping everything away and starting from scratch.

Please help save me from having it taken in and charged a buttload for something that I should be able to handle myself.

Thanks!

If you are replacing both pups, this could be easy or hard.

SD typically are wired so that you send 'green' to ground, 'black' to the 3 way and tie the 'red' and 'white' to the push-pull (as in bodia's pic above). This is like how some McCarty's are wired, but it usually does not cancel hum when in split mode and middle selector.

If you want to do what PRS did a lot, to get the inner coils (sound 'Strattier'} and get hum elimination, here is my dissertation on another guitar forum: http://www.aguitarforum.com/threads/when-is-a-strat-not-a-strat-my-coil-split-secret-for-agf.89281/

Hope this helps
I have SD 4 conductor pickups in my SE CU24

Amazing! Very cool stuff. I actually eventually want to pop in a phase switch.

Can someone re post those pictures please? I am having the same problem finding a wiring diagram that matches the 3 way selector.
