so I have a pair of 59/09’s but the real older non TM version with the braided sheath and just a thick black wire and a thin white wire. Only reference I can find is that the neck and bridge are opposite as to which is the hot wire, can anyone confirm this? I am throwing them in a Bernie and the SE pickups were both neck and bridge white wires to the volume pot and want to confirm the 59/09’s so I don’t have to redo the solder job. All the wiring diagrams I find have the red and green wires, none with the older two wire layout.

The other pickups I've seen with that arrangement are:

Bare: Ground and Shield
Black: Hot
White: Split

That seems to be the recent standard for push/pull guitars and I do not think they are reverse polarity from each other. The ones with separate wires are meant for the blade switch and are reverse polarity.

For a Bernie, it should be that for each pickup you solder the bare to the volume pot casing and the black to the input lug. If you're using a coil split switch, the white wire connects there. Otherwise, just tape it off.
