The McCarty Gold top double cut with HarmonicDesign soap bar P90s
"VP-90's are not just another P-90 copy, They have everything that's cool about classic P-90 sound, but vintage P-90's and their clones also tend to have a blurry, indistinct tone on the neck pickup, with a relatively nasal-sounding bridge pickup.
The VP-90's change all of that in a big way, The "VP" stands for 'Vintage Plus' with a fat, clear, expressive sound from both pickups that will absolutely blow away the originals with a lot more of that punchy vintage soul, and less noise. So If you crave the classic tone and expression that some of the old P-90's hint at, but with much better range and balance, then VP-90's are the way to go.
"Gorgeous sound, great feel...fuller-sounding and MUCH broader frequency range...very nicely balanced.
Higher output and way less hum than any P90...awesome clean, deadly O.D. tones...Fantastic for false harmonics." -David Torn"
Paisley H 50 watt head
Ported cabinet with 12" Jensen MOD
I have a Trio since the pedal steel player retired. We were the Huckleberries who played a mix of Western Swing, Country, Dead, Hot Tuna, Ry Cooder, Early Stones,a real fun mix of music that got people out of their chairs. It was Tele and Tweed Deluxe all the way.
Now, I've created Freshwater Surf Music based on the Kern River Valley and Lake Isabella here in the Southern Sierra Mountains of California.
Song titles:
Fish Sandwich
Blue Gill
Wooly Bugger
Lagrimas Del Rio- Tears of the river. The Kern River aka the Killer Kern has 335 verified drownings.
Havilah Na Gila- the historic town of Havilah was lost in the 50,000 acre fire earlier this past Summer.
Pioneer Point
and a few new ones not titled yet.
The PRS guitar and amp combo is clean and clear, far superior to my 1980 Handwired Deluxe Reverb or Tweed Deluxes. The Reverb is very sweet and modern, giving instrumental music a luscious sound.
The only pedal I use is the J Rockett Mr. Moto for tremolo.
We rehearse once a week to get dialed in for recording in 2025.
In addition to my songs, we have some Zappa and keep our Huckleberries sets alive.
I lusted after a McCarty like mine that hung in the local shop for years at $3,500.
I found mine pre Covid for $1,700 and got rid of the Duncan Designed P90s.
The HarmonicDesign VP90s are vastly superior.
Thanks for reading.

Warm, well balanced tone with low end focus. It responds to overdrive distortion with a rich smooth crunch and bright lead-voice fuzz.
