Wide Thin Conundrum ~~~

So, as some of you may know I recently bought my first CE24 and loved it so much that I bought a Custom 24 (traded my beloved Gibson ES359) and was surprised as to how much I liked the feel and playability of Wide Thin necks. I still favor Wide Fat necks and all of the approximately 40 or so PRSi I've owned came with W/F necks.

Here's the conundrum. I have been exclusively playing both the CE24 and CU24 for the past few weeks and, today, for the first time, I couldn't move my fingers as fast nor was I able to transition from chords with ease as I normally do. I got a bit frustrated and even alarmed. So, I put my guitar down and gave my wrist and forearm a light massage and discovered a big knot in my forearm muscle.

So, I did a quick research on the net and apparently thinner necks do cause more fatigue on the wrist, forearm and even fingers for that matter. Just so you know, I'm not going to do something drastic and sell these guitars, but I am a bit bummed.

Do I need to get a Private Stock Custom 24 with a Wide Fat or Pattern Regular neck??? :iamconfused::biggrin:

Any others have had similar problems? Solutions?

Yes! Do it!

/Enable Mode Off-ish

I tend to play lots of metal leads or big jazz chords during most of my intense playing sessions. One of the first things that my teacher taught me was the importance of stretching and warming up to prevent injury. And I do notice some discomfort when I ignore that advice. Perhaps you could try beefing up your stretching/ warm up routine while you're working on PS builds?

At least with the W/T neck I'll need to do some stretching exercises which I've never done with W/F or other fat neck equipped guitars.

BTW, on TGP someone owns a CU24 with a W/F neck!?
