Why is the natural back a current trend?

SEs need more opaque backs. The SEs have jarring back/neck seams. Might as well cover it up.

I honestly prefer the natural back on almost every color just to be able to see the wood i paid for but mainly it hides scratches and swirls infinitely better.

Funny that it becomes more about the paint than the important stuff.

Tone Is In The Fingers So The Guitar And Paint Shouldn't Matter.
