    I tried until it got sat on my a younger family member. Then I switched to double bass which was much harder to damage.

    No, he just has one leg shorter than the other. Little known fact - one day in high school, he was being admonished in gym class about his posture, and his retort to the teacher - "You know I have this condition! Come on - I lean!" - led his classmate, Kevin Rowland, to write a big hit record.
