I've seen a comparison of outputs but not necessarily the sound profiles of PRS pickups. Which current model is similar to Dragon I ?

I have a set of Dragon 1s in a 96 CU22. The bridge is very unique, hyper sensitive to touch, but not as dark as the resistance number (19k) would imply. I'd say it has a sizzle or fizzy quality to the top end. It's also quite articulate, you can pick out all the strings in a chord.

I have 85/15s, 58/15lts, 57/08-Metal paired and a set of Artist pickups in other guitars, The Dragon 1s are definitely their own thing.

Honestly: What is the Dragon I sound?
Is there any pure but standardized signal chain to deduct this result - abviously not.
Different cables, cabinets, EQ settings, string type and gauges and so on.
You need to compare type of magnet, inductivity (because this rates foremost the output), the ratio of resistance to the diameter of the wire gives a hind on emphasized lows, mids, heighs.

I really like my Dragon 1 set, but I have other guitars I play more. I think the most rounded guitar I have is a CU24 with 85/15s but it really depends on genre I am playing.

Dragon 1's are definitely a unique sounding pickup. They're hotter and I think a little fatter than the 85/15 TCI in my 35th Anniversary Cu 24, they're hotter than the Dragon II's in my Cu 22, though the neck pickups are not miles apart. I find the bridge a little bit darker sounding than the 85/15, and they're not even in the same universe as the 58/15 LT's that were in my 594 Singlecut. To my ear, the bridge is somewhat similar to the Gibson 500T that's in my Explorer, though it is definitely a more articulate pickup, and maybe even a touch lower output. I'm also not doing a direct apples to apples comparison among the guitars that each of these sets is in as the Dragon I's are in a 97 CE 22 Maple Top with a trem, the 85/15 TCI are in a 35th Anniversary Cu 24, the Dragon II's are in a Custom 22 with a stoptail bridge and the 58/15 were in a 594 Singlecut (I kind of wish I hadn't parted with it looking back).

Outside of PRS, the Bare Knuckle Cold Sweat is similar to the Dragon I, but again, not an exact copy. Do keep in mind that the bridge pickup on that set isn't wound quite as hot as a Dragon I either.

All in all, the Dragon I is among my favorite pickups by any maker for hard rock and metal. For a good solid all around pickup set, I've been impressed with the 85/15 TCI.
