Hi
What would be a suitable case for my SE Fredrik Akesson?
I've tried the Gator GC-LPS for Les Pauls after Gator told me this would be ideal. It didn't fit.
I also tried the Kinsman ABS KGC8630 and again this didn't fit.
The guitar seems to be quite thick and the lids of these cases will not close without crushing the guitars bridge and knobs.
So I asked at a couple of online stores here in the UK.
Andertons told me...
We can get the actual PRS cases for these though they are pricey at around £150. Alternatively Hiscox make a case that fits this style exactly for about £99.
And GAK told me...
Although the brand Hiscox have a PRS case on their product listing it does not fit the SE single cutaway style.
The Hiscox case to fit is the Hiscox STD-EG. £97.00.
This has a fraction more room inside than a regular Les Paul plywood case such as the Gator GC-LPS.
According to Hiscox's website the only difference between these two cases is the STD-ESC has an upper bout measurement of 10" vs 11.25" for the STD-EG.
Who do I believe? Would these cases fit?
Then I found this thread regarding similar issues with Hiscox cases.
http://prsguitars.com/forum/showthread.php?1587-Alternative-cases-for-PRS-SE-Custom-Semi-Hollow
So I am giving up on the trial and error method now and am willing to go for a decent case just so long as it fits. I would also consider the PRS multifit if I knew it would be ok.
It's the thickness of the guitar and depth of the case that seems to be the issue.
Any recommendations for cases to fit a SE Fredrik Akesson available in the UK up to £150 ish would be gratefully received.
Thanks.
