Where are your "other" pedals....?

I have a serious problem with pedals. I was getting tired of having to rummage through boxes in the closet for pedals I'm looking to swap onto one of my 3 pedalboards, and I like to switch often, so I needed a solution. I wanted to have them all visible for easy access, but out of the way. Soooooo...some slatwall, lucite shelving, wire shelving, plexiglass and of course LED lighting and here it is. This is where I keep my 40-50 "inactive" pedals (and power supplies) waiting to get back onto a pedalboard....what do you do with yours?

That's a cool solution. Easy access and you can make all your friends feel like they are shopping for pedals when they stop by.

"Ooh! How much for the Belle Epoch?"

"Oh, hmm. Well, that one's not really for sale. But, since I like you, how about $450?"

What I do with pedals I'm not using is sell 'em! ;)

Yep! I have two on eBay right now, as a matter of fact. I just have a volume pedal I use once in a while and an Ibanez AD99 delay I use once in a blue moon, but can't bring myself to sell. They live on a little table next to my guitar stand.

That shelf setup is amazing, though. Looks like it belongs in a music store!

I have always used every working pedal in my pedal boards (as in, they function correctly, and aren't noisy). As a result, my boards contain a lot of pedals (see the other pedal-board thread for pix), and I try to use them all regularly. I wouldn't ever sell an unused pedal - I bought it for some reason, and unless I truly would never use it again the resale value probably wouldn't be worth my while.

However, I don't have in total as many pedals as the OP has spare! I suppose if I had that many spare pedals I'd want to display them or at least have them really accessible for swapping out. 40-50 spare pedals, at an estimated $150 per pedal (which is probably low), is $7000-ish tied up in idle equipment - although maybe only $5000 if liquidated on the used market. If I had that many idle pedals, I'd seriously consider whether that cash would be better used towards a PS purchase or similar...but then, I might say to myself, why have another pretty guitar when I can have all these cool pedals?!

There are a bunch of pedals I can see there that I'd want on my pedal board(s) - the Echorec, the Belle Epoch, the RAT, the AquaPuss, etc, so I'm fascinated to know what the OP has on his active board right now...

This is my main pedal board, which I only use in my home studio. I also have a "live board" that I use for jamming w friends and shows w my "originals" band (a G-system with several Keeley Modded OD and distortion pedals), a "looper board" that I use for songwriting, and a RJM Mastermind for my Kemper when I play w my "covers" band. Like I said...I have a "pedal problem".

Thanks Les...and for the record I have sold a lot of pedals...I just seem to always accumulate more. They are fun though...

I will sell any pedal I have ( because I make them to sell :) ) or send you to Derek Morgan or John Mann
That is a sweet sweet cabinet

I use a Rubbermaid pull out drawer stack - 2 of them.

My overdrive section changes all the time so I like having a lot of choices in "reserve" so to speak, and I'm always changing it - sometimes daily.

I have just the basics that never change (delay, comp, phaser, tuner, etc) in which I only have one of each, but have about 70 or so OD pedals that I keep around for playing with.

I'll try to grab a pic later.

If you'd asked me I would have said there can't be more than 50 OD pedals available! 70? Wow. But I guess the boutique/clone market has exploded in the last decade, and so there's more than just a few Boss, a few Arion, a few Ibanez TSs, etc...

Not to mention "modded" versions of many pedals available from Keeley, Analog.man....etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the number of OD pedals available was well over 1,000....and no...I'm not trying to collect them all.

There are probably 100 Klones alone out there, so the number of OD really is endless with a new builder popping up almost daily.

good lord!
When I was moving last year I sold all of those spare sitting around not living on a board pedals. Your solution is...yea, good lord, haha
