Where’s the CE24-08 Black Limba love?

I drank the PRS kool aid, and it was tasty!

Ok, ladies and gents, while some are moaning that PRS isn’t innovating enough, I’m losing my cookies over my new CE 24-08 Black Limba. I know some people insist on highly symmetrical tops in Purty colors, but this is a player. The body is a single slab with tremendous grain and color variation which floats my boat. The 85/15 pickups suit the body wood beautifully. I play clean a lot for rhythm, so I can hear the very even tone from top to bottom. The bass strings are clear and give that piano wire sound when tapped. The highs are outstanding, clear without being shrill or ice picky. And, of course, it’s got that killer humbucker midrange that all my PRS have. The neck is typically PRS excellent, rendered even more so by 4 coats of Meguiar’s cleaner/ car wax. The construction is flawless. The weight is 8 lbs and 4 oz., perfect for long gigs. The only complaint is the patented vibrato. I think they changed suppliers when they switched to Indonesian manufacturing. It feels flimsy to my touch under use. So……..John Mann to the rescue! After the trem change, I don’t think there’s any that needs to be done. I would suggest you try one at the earliest opportunity and let me know what you think sonically. I also like the feel of the satin finish of the wood in my hands. Because it’s a lighter color, it won’t show the shiny spots that are unavoidable with use on a satin finish. I await your too sense worth of opinion.

My guess is about 2017. I emailed tech support asking that question a while ago. The person then doing the answering wouldn’t tell me diddly and got a little rude. The person fielding emails now is nicer. By the way absolutely minimal volume drop when tapping, the best of my several PRS. The swamp ash is a real beauty. If my pockets were a little deeper……….

Knowing how well they did with the Korean models, it's great to hear that high quality coming from Indonesia too.

Congrats on a killer guitar. If you haven't already, do an NGD & post pics!!

You’re saying the SE vibrato/trem seems more flimsy than in the past?

FWIW PRS has historically never really been transparent about where their bridges and trems were/are made. Even Shawn was a lil’ bit vague about who their manufacturers were when I inquired in 2016.

I’ve never understood not calling CE’s ‘core’. They started life as 100% USA made guitars, just like their set neck brethren. Why does a bolt on neck mean it’s not a core PRS ?

I think the CE carve is nice. Better on the eyes than S2. Multiply necks are not an issue for me. Aren’t scarf joints more stable for the head stock? Sonically nobody could tell a difference.

The tremolo system stop me from considering these full cores. I wish they released them gen 2 or gen 3 trems. They could easily create a nice cold roll steel tremolo block if they insist on having steel for the classic bolt on integrity.

The birds should be upgraded. I see no reason why they can’t get the SE level of inlays instead of the cheaper looking acrylic. I still say I would take moons as well

As to the OP: congrats on the limba. I had one once. I loved the way it played and felt. I eventually one day realized I didn’t like the all natural wood look. If I did it again I would have gone for one of the smoke bursts versions
