What's a special 22

This looks awesome but why the flipped Neck pickup? Is that for Peter Green tones?

Anyone played/own one? Don't see very many so just curious.

This is not to be confused with the original Custom 22 Special which had a very similar type of setup, but was not semi-hollow and had a true singlecoil in the middle position, but no mini toggles.

I think it's in this video where Brian mentions that it was done the same way as the pick ups on the 408. It isn't an out of phase thing. I think it was for a better tapped sound.

Latest word is the dealer has filled all of their Special pre-orders but mine and one other.
Going to be at PRS in a few days. PRS newbie rep sent him the ETA for the wrong guitar so they're going to check
on it while they're already at the factory.

Turning a pickup around doesn’t flip the polarity, which is required for the Peter green style out of phase tone
