I have a Custom 24-08, as well as a 509. Thinking of a third PRS that is great for metal, but not sure what model(s) I should look at, so any suggestions, and probably SE to keep the cost down. I'm already $10K into the other two.

Westie
Santana IIIs seem to be relatively low in price
McSoapy
HB variant

Just get another core, you'd be totally happy with an SE but then you'd keep scratching the itch...

Tremonti this 10 top is out there

Tremonti, DW CE, or a Cu24 Floyd. If you must go se, check out the Holcomb. I prefer my Torero. Personally I'd get the core Tremonti. Mine is in my top 5. I'd pass over the Tremonti se. It's just not the same. I like my 30th se Cu24 Floyd, but that's after modding it as far as I can go with the se bones. As good of a guitar as it is now, still not in my tops 5. I'd swap it in an instant for a core Cu24 and debatable for the DW. If I was to do it over, I'd probably pickup up a used DW. I'd be about the same money into it post mods.

Get the Tremonti. The uproute is how all PRS should come. The guitar absolutely rocks!

I remain astonished that people don’t think of the HFS pickup for metal. I’d say any used core that has one in the bridge.

Great suggestions made already. Depends on the kind of metal you are after

Modern stuff: SE Holcomb
Other:
I think the suggestion of an older CE24 (used) is a good idea. Many floating around, dirt cheap, "core" kind of specs, but with maple neck and usually HFS bridge. Rocks quite hard and sounds different as wyat you got. Otherwise the tremonti or a original SC250 might work
