Hi guys!Tonight im working on scales.I love the V-I in minor.Harmonic minor the most common choice to play over the dominant chord. If you use a flat 5 sub and use the melodic minor interesting sounds start to come out.In this case it means using the F melodic minor(Bb lydian dominant)over the Bb7b5 chord.

Code:
   E7 Am Bb7b5 Am
e |--------5-------|--------5-------|
B |5-------5-------|5-------5-------|
G |7-------5-------|7-------5-------|
D |6-------7-------|6-------7-------|
A |7-------7-------|--------7-------|
E |--------5-------|6-------5-------|

Hi guys! All weekend i have been working on Hedrixy,R&bish chord stylings, drills and slides and partial barres.Very tricky to keep time and have the partial barres to ring the right way.I came up with this little exercise with a chordprogression based on the circle of fifth. This way you can see and play all the same chord embellishment on different strings.

Code:
   F C G D A
e |1---1---3---3---|3---3---5---5---|5---5----5-55---|
B |1---1---5---5---|3---3---7---7---|5---5----5-55---|
G |2---2---5---5---|4---4---7---7---|6---6----6-66---|
D |3---3---5---5---|5---5---7---7---|7---7----7-77---|
A |3---3---3---3---|5---5---5---5---|7---7----7-77---|
E |1---1-----------|3---3-----------|5---5----5-55---|

Tonight I worked on "War Machine".

Really.

Only not on acoustic this time!

Tonight im working on Tags bop line :)

Lol! Not mine by a long shot though. I copped it from Charlie Parker years ago. If you want some other ones, just ask. I have stolen them all! ;)

Yes.

Hans mentioned it in another thread and put a bug in my brain. Always liked the song and the riff and found myself playing it on an acoustic one night, so I figured it was time.

Hi guys!Tonight and for the last couple of days ive been working on hybrid picking.I really like open voiced triads as in ex 1.Ex 2 is based on those triads with a pull-off to an open strings. In the last E chord the 3rd is hammered-on on the beat. The G maj7 chord is thrown in for a scandinavian melancholy reason :).

Code:
ex 1
e |4--2------------|
B |------2---------|
G |4--2-----1------|
D |2--0--2---------|
A |------0--2------|
E |---------0------|
ex 2
e |---4-p0-----2-p0--------|------------------------|------------------------|
B |---------------------2-p|0-----------------------|---3-p0-----2-p0--0-----|
G |---4--------2-----------|------1-----------------|------------------------|
D |2--------0-----------2--|------------------------|---4--------2---4h6-----|
A |------------------0-----|------2-----------------|---------0--------------|
E |------------------------|---0--------------------|3-----------------0-----|

Hi jfb!Im just a guitaraddict :)...too late stopping me now from playing guitar all the time.

Hi guys!Tonight im working on rest-strokes.I got this from listening and watching Jeff Beck pushing down on the strings with his thumb really making the notes jump out of his speakers.I called it push picking at first for myself not realising its an old technique from country flatpicking if you use a pick and from classical guitar with fingers. So for me its basically using downstrokes as much as you can trying to be Jeff Beck with a pick.Works great with a cleaner sound, just alittle dirt to give it sustain. The power from the downstrokes will make amp distort more.Im not saying only use downstrokes but as an effect.Im coming from the 80s when it was alternate picking as a rule with the occasional sweep and perhaps some tapping for maximum virtouso sounds.Of course with a superdistorted amp for no nuances coming through. For a starter with this technique, listen or watch Jeff Beck play Brush with the blues, the first phrase.Try to get that sound with the pick. Please try with thumb too and hear what an amazing difference in sound it is,how much louder the notes gets.I guess thats where the phrase diggin in comes from :).
