Hey good people, Can anybody out there tell me which strings come on a S2 CU24 (from the factory) ? I'd also love to hear peoples opinions on which strings you feel compliment the S2 CU24?

I do believe d'addario xls

I prefer either Prs or d'addario NYXL on my Prs and other guitars . Prs strings last much longer than most manufacturers as well imo

I have nyxls on my custom 24 and my daughters ce24. They have been on for a month and look, sound, and play the same as the day they have been on. I am not scared to bend them, plenty of spring left even at a step and a half. They sound very well balanced, full of life, and are holding up very well. I am very hard on strings, these are not denting or anything like that which is great. I think I will be sticking with them. Their tuning stability is second to none too.

I tried a set, they were OK but just didn't have the feel that I'm used to. I'm all about DR strings, usually Pure Blues and sometimes Tite Fits, they feel great to me and last a long time. But it's all personal preference!

PRS strings are rebranded D'Addario's. I buy XL's and get the same strings. PRS knows a good string when they see it... :)

Are PRS strings really that good? Never tried them!

Prs strings are a pure nickel wrapped d'addario. They are wound to prs specs but they'd be pretty similar to their other pure nickel strings.

10's ...all core and s2's are 10's . SE models except the Clint Lowrey are 9's

10-46s work very well on the 25" scale. I've been contimplating moving to 10-52 though as the low e can feel a bit sloppy at times.

Thanks for the feedback guys, really appreciate it! Okay so based on all the info you've provided, to start with I'm gonna go with the D'addario NYXL 10-46s and see how they feel for me but now senior member- 'DHW' has thrown me a welcomed & interesting curveball & mentioned the 10-52s cos of the potential 'sloppy low e' on the 10-46s. A point of view that is certainly interesting to me. Anybody's thoughts on this are also very welcomed as always :)

I play loud and fast and many times down tuned. All of which contribute to the feeling. I have also recently purchased my custom 24 and had been playing previously on wide fat necks or les paul necks and the pattern regular neck is ever so slightly narrower which contributes to me fretting a bit too close to the edge at times. Add to that the fact that if you post enough stupid questions even you can be a senior member! lol it has nothing to do with my knowledge.

10-46 will be easier to find. I would start there if I was you. You've got the rest of your life to try out string gauges since that will be how long you will keep your new guitar most likely since it is a prs and all lol.

edit- eek... not saying your question was stupid just that mine were which got me the forum rank based on the number of posts made.

Haha 'DHW' Well I'll try my best to keep posting to become a 'senior' & although my questions so far maybe aren't too stupid, there is always time for me to post one yet! :) But seriously thanks for your feedback -what you wrote makes good sense to me. Yeah I'm definitely gonna go with the 10-46s & take it from there. & as you say I will be keeping my PRS guitar for a long time- what an amazing instrument it really is! cheers.

Gauging is all preference. If you down tune heavier gauges are usually better for that. If you always play in E standard Eb or Drop D then 9's or 10's are usually a safe bet. 10's will also get you a decent tone on Db but at that point you are kind of pushing it. I usually go with 11-52 after I found 12 was just too thick for doing quick string bends and 11-52 will handle C standard and above with no problems and bend nicely. Good luck!

Hey guys, so to add to this thread, I was in a guitar shop today & a sales guy in there tells me PRS guitars do NOT come with PRS strings on them from the factory. He said he thought they were probably D'addarios. This shop though, has never sold PRS guitars & its really not the best guitar shop IMO. Does anyone agree with what he told me?

Since the PRS site doesn't specify the brand, it would be hard to say for sure, unless someone else knows differently. But also since the PRS brand are made by D'addario, it could be said, "Six of one, half a dozen of the other". ;) Shouldn't matter, I would think.
