What PRS guitars do you own that have been discontinued?

Not 100% sure, but I believe my 2014 S2 Custom 22 has been discontinued. Great guitar, though!

Among ones I still have, Modern Eagle I and Signature Limited are defunct. I also have a Modern Eagle V, a Myles Kennedy, and a shockingly good SE McCarty 594 Singlecut, all still available new.

Among ones that I’ve sold…McCarty Soapbar, Modern Eagle II, Modern Eagle III, 513, P22, original style CE24, Custom 22/12, Mira X, 305…and I’m probably missing a couple.

I was looking at the Hiland. How do you like it?

It’s a good guitar. I chose it because it has a unique combination of features. Full violin carve top, bolt-on maple neck and board, blade switch, and two HB pickups. Bonus points for being available in a 10-top and having something a little different for inlays.

The only thing that was so-so is the Hiland pickups. Take that with a grain of salt, though, because I haven’t gelled with most PRS pickups from that era. So I pulled the Hiland set out and put in a set of uncovered 53/10s. Much better, and it’s been like that for the last ~6yrs. But I’ll be pulling those out and replacing with some Fralin Twangmasters. I want this guitar to serve the chimey/single-coil type role of the group. The 3-way switch and super smooth stock trem will make it a nice combo I think.

Actual core guitars (not counting Limited Editions) that I still own that have been discontinued:

Custom 22
McCarty Archtop II
Singlecut
Standard 22
McSoapy
Singlecut Trem
Mira X
Couple o' Ted DC 245's (soapbar & HB)
NF3
Stripped 58
408

Holy crap, this is the majority of PRSi that I own. I don't care, though; they excite & amaze me just the same.

Great group!
And... Doesn't bother me at all either, but it is interesting how PRS morphs...

I celebrate the ownership of all discontinued amps and guitars, especially low-production models.

"Wow, they only made 583 of those, I'll give you one million dollars for it."

"No thanks. Money means nothing to me. I just want to own Things You Can't Have, Nyah-Nyah."

Do the discontinued guitars go up in value?
I’ve been wanting to get a DW CE Floyd, but I see they’ve discontinued them.
There are quite a few on reverb

Value is term separate from cost, I think. An owner might recognize that some things are more difficult to replace than others, so it factors into what they keep.

Used prices on discontinued mainstream models don’t generally increase when there’s a large supply of them. Maybe someday down the road when there’s are fewer changing hands, but that’s really a function of interest in the model.

Well, for me it I guess it would be all the ones I own now.

'19 Special SH Ltd, well its was explicitly limited so no surprise.
'20 Silver Sky maple neck technically discontinued because discontinued color : Golden Mesa
'23 SC McCarty 594, surprisingly as I bought it new just a few months ago.

Amusingly in the last year I sold the ones that are still available (Fiore in Sugar Moon and SE Hollow Body 2 Piezo in Black Gold), that may have had some weight in my reasoning for accepting to let them go. Yep, unobtainium is a hard drug, didn't really think this through before.
