the string gauge that goes on a particular guitar? I've discovered that not all hang-tags read the same.

I am under the impression that each model (Santana, HB, Cu22, etc) has it's string guage set by the factory and they are all shipped the same within each model line.

Are you saying that you found two identical models with different string guages installed at the factory and noted on the hang tag? Can you give examples?

Most production models are strung with 10-46 gauge strings Per Paul Smith. The gauges used on Artist Signature models are determined by the Artist.

Shawn,
Any issues with the SE wrap tails handling 10's? Also wondering why Core and S2 use 10's and SE 9's?

Wrap tail handles 10's just fine. I think it's when you go to a wound g string you ma have issues...

Cheers Shawn! Always wondered why most SE's use 9's too, particularly those with a shorter scale length such as the SE 245...

9's are easy to play, so that's why we use them on the SE's. 10's are the most popular, so thst's why we use them on the corse and S2 models.

ps, the SE stoptail can accommodate 10's without any issues.
