What is the theme Neal plays at 0:31? It's familiar but, ....

Since the mystery has been solved, let me take the time to derail the thread into a pile of how badazz Mr. Schon is.

For every two snarky things somebody could say about Neil.... He's got a million rad points to smack that kinda sh!t down.

So good. Such a team player. Immaculate pedigree. Amazing songs. Added positively to the greater contemporary musical vernacular. Bangin'! Fro, and played guitar on "Any Way You Want It".

"So what?!?.. So let's dance!!"

Hands down my favorite guitar player!
Iv seen Journey a bunch of times, second row and the guys sound is huge!
I think thats why my rig is the way it is now.
I should be installing a 401 sustainer into my gold top Tremonti here very soon, probably the same time I get the floyd in.
Much love for Neil Schon, and his amazing legacy.

Care to elaborate on your rig? Also give a review of that sustainer when you get a chance. I once had a fernandes strat style guitar and the sustainer was cool but, the guitar itself wasn't much to talk about. Can you use the sustainer with any pickups or do you have to use the one that comes with the kit? I read somewhere that Joe Satriani and Steve Vai use sustainers. Anyone know what they use?

And while were on the Neal Schon topic, anyone have any experience with the NS-14? A Trem guitar is something I want in the future, and his really appeals to me.

I saw him on the tour that created Captured and had already heard Dixie Highway before they played it that night (admittedly, only earlier that day) from the 8th row -- it was awesome. He got a little carried away during the solo, which was fine by me.

Yeah actually Joe does use one now (going to see him tonight) that he upgraded his guitar and Steve's been using one forever. to answer your question, you don't have to use theirs. Actually if they didn't put the pickup in with the package Mby it would be 100 dollars cheaper.
Its almost pointless. It is better to use one that is on the hotter side but it will work with paf style as well. The sustainers that Neil uses for his guitars, are the ones they released in the 80's - something to do with a stronger driver. He actually keeps all the original ones, even when he sells his prs guitars. Any how, to install one in a prs is very tricky and they route a serious amount of wood. That's not stopping me.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to see Joe march 15th in Pensacola, FL. Can't wait, counting the days now.

Actually I have this right now.
I'm waiting for my luthier to free up some time for my baby.
