Hi mates!

What is the best tremolo upgrade for PRS USA S2 Custom 24?

In Europe we say: Tremolo is the fast repetition of a single tone or a chord, but a vibrato changes the pitch of a tone or chord up or down.

Mann's vibrato systems are the best suggestion in terms of keeping the whole guitar in its authentic design.

For what reason you want to change the vibrato system?

First I would ask what it is you're trying to accomplish? Your answer would guide my input... (i.e. different saddle types, block, etc.).

The stock bridge is solid, its steel saddles being brighter with sharper (quicker?) notes than that of the brass Core version.

If you're simply looking for an "upgrade" then without question go with the Mann stuff (top notch quality).

Again though, the stock bridge is good and has it's own... EQ curve if you will.

Best of luck!

I'd like to change it because of these bright, quacky tones.....and sharp notes , as weel. I also changed the pickups but with no effect......

Different saddles can help with that… might not need to swap out the entire bridge. I’d give John Mann a call and describe what’s happening and your goal; he worked with PRS to develop that bridge ;)

Other things you can do as well, electronically (pots, caps, etc.)

Also, string type/material and gauge will make a difference too.

These things will take you in the right direction, but only so far before we’re having the tone-wood debate :)

My reason for upgrading was that the saddles were not stable in the S2 stock bridge. There were gaps in between the saddles. I thought the whole idea was that for tuning stability, the saddles were supposed to be tightly packed and I worry when doing some wankery divebombs. When I received the Mann bridge, it was exactly how I thought it should be. It was perfectly made. I was hesitant with the price tag coz I'm poor, but it was worth every single penny! Not only does it look good, it also made some sonic improvements. Sustain is better among other things including tune stability, even after using the tremolo (or vibrato).
