This summer My wife and I are going to travel.. I love going to small eating joints that are famous for a specialty.. Would like to hear about your favorites... In Pensacola is is most definitely Maguires...Has over 200k in one dollar bills stapled to walls and ceilings. Great steaks and Irish entertainment.

Where are you headed, that will help focus answers. Also, make sure you have Urban Spoon loaded up on your smart phone.

Hey Dave next time you're in Mobile, pop into Callaghans Irish Social Club, the burgers there are fantastic (I'd say the best I've had in my life), the beer is good and they have live entertainment (which was great when I was there).

Only just up the road from you too!

St. Paul Alberta, Canada has a little place in the Co-Op mall called Doug's Cafeteria...Hands down the best lunch in town, total cafeteria style decor and food, but the beauty of this joint is absolutly the food! Cheap, fast and tasty is the name of the game, their burgers are the big hits, nothing fancy at all but damn are they good :) (just don't hope for much more than a decent burger in this town lol although a pic at our alien landing pad may be enough to make the trip almost worth it!),

Hans...going to take I-10 west all the way to L.A. then up I-5 to SF.. Then uhh dont know from there.

Oh.. to reply to JustMund again... Was in a Waffle House outside of Mobile and saw a guy who looked just like Hunter S. Thompson.. Found out later it was.. Maybe I should have said something, but Im glad I didnt.

Being in Decatur GA is great for eating out. We have dozens of restaurants nearby and a great majority are independent.

Around the corner from home we have a place called Universal Joint, which is in a converted service station. They have the BEST fish tacos.

Across the street from there is Mojo's Pizza. Brilliantly, they take delivery orders through Grub Hub, which means when I'm feeling super lazy I can order and pay for my pizza with my phone while sitting on the couch. I only have to get up to grab the pizza from the delivery guy. This allows them to compete with the big boys in terms of service. I've given up Pizza Hut.

There's also Farm Burger in downtown Decatur, and they make the BEST burgers. The beef is all from grass-fed cows raised in the southeast. The other ingredients are sourced as locally as possible. They're getting kind of big for a mom 'n' pop now, though. They're about to open their third location.

If you find yourself on the east coast of Canada...in particular Cape Breton,Nova Scotia where I live the Lick-A-Chick....yup....that's what I said....Lick-A-Chick is the local favorite :)

Not a ton of these spots left in Annapolis.

Chris' Charcoal Pit on West Street is good family owned Greek food.

The Crab Shack right down the road from the PRS factory has the best soft crab sandwich ever.

There's a place called Fathead's here - great sandwiches and my favorite wings. Not quite a hole in the wall joint. For that, I'd lean towards a place I haven't been in years - Wilson's Barbecue. Dude's been in business something like 70 years. His kid ran a second store, but the original guy heard complaints about the food so he shut him down. Haven't been there in years because it's in a really bad part of town.

Or Triangle Bar - the best Italian hoagies. Just got one yesterday. Outfriggingstanding.

The best in my home town? There isn't one. My home town is in nowhere AZ. It has three intersections on the highway. One has a gas station, one is the school, the the last one has a small store. That is it.

However, if you're going through Phoenix, stop at Luke's. Best Itialian Sub (wet) you will ever eat. Yes better than in Chicago. I've had e'm in both places and there simply is no comparison.

Luke's of Chicago
1602 E Indian School Rd
Phoenix, AZ 85016

Sally's Apizza - New Haven, CT.
Plain pie with garlic is the best pizza in the world!
