Ok, so I'm a huge John Mayer fan. I've been following the buzz of the Dead & Company since they banded together last fall and recently caught their show in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago. With the legions of Mayer fans who play and seeing how well the signature strat model did, I'm thinking an S2 Super Eagle would fly off the walls of guitar stores.
They basically have the "bones" in the S2 Custom 22 Semi-Hollow now. Add a Narrow Field in the middle, 5 way switch to capture the out of phase, parallel pickup combination tones and perhaps add a second coil tap push/pull on the volume to give the guitar the optional tones. Shoot it in a lighter sunburst. The preamp and treble boosters would be left off, but I'm thinking PRS could put out a home run for under the $2K mark with this concept.
Or am I just an over zealous Mayer fan looking for a cool axe to get those "garcia-eque" tones ?
