Most of us are passionate about guitars, and my guess is many of us have other passionate interests as well. It might be interesting to connect to discuss other hobbies/interests. So, what are you into?

I like to run, and bike, really getting into mountain bike riding. But, I love to tinker, so I plan to do one of those bamboo bike frame builds with my sons in a few weeks.

Board games, and I am not talking things like Monopoly or Risk. I am talking about things that are much more complicated. I usually play in the World Board Gaming Championships every summer in a variety of different of games. Last year I managed pull off a 1st place win in the COIN series which are a series of games on Counter Insurgency Warfare. The games in this series are Andean Abyss(Columbia), Cuba Libra('59 Cuban Revolution), A Distant Plain(Afgahnistan 2001+), and Fire in the Lake(Vietnam, 1965-1975). They all deal with asymmetric warfare where each player plays one of the major factions of insurgents, the government, an external power, or something else entirely(e.g. the mafia, the warlords or the drug cartels).

I also have been involved in play testing new titles, "Virgin Queen" was the last one which was a multidimensional game of politics, exploration, artistic and scientific competition, open warfare, and religious conflict between the European powers during the age of Queen Elizabeth I. It was a successor to "Here I Stand" which dealt with the same topics in the era of the Protestant Reformation which proceeded the ascension of Elizabeth.

If that wasn't enough, I regularly write session reports and reviews of solitaire board games for Board Game Geek.

In other words, I am a total nerd.

Avid mountain climber and mountaineer. I've climbed 35 of the 48 4000 footers in the white mountains of NH, some in both winter and summer, and some as many as 10 times or more. Its funny that I didn't realize how passionate I was about the mountains until I moved to FL. Just being able to do it the 2 weeks I am back per year isn't enough for me so I intend to spend summers back home starting next year.

I like all the things you listed!

But besides guitars, I'm probably most passionate about synthesizers.

I'm an avid hunter, I fish every chance I get, and I am a watch fanatic

Drew, My first cousin, David Carter, from Indianapolis, climbed Everest with David Breashears several years ago. There was a film that was made by NOVA that was on PBS a few years ago. David Carter nearly died because he developed a respiratory infection at the top of Everest, and they barely got him off the mountain. More recently, he was in Nepal when the earthquake struck. He watched buildings swaying 24" each direction, and his hotel collapsed the day after they vacated it. He has been over many times, and just got back last week from helping with earthquake victims, many of whom are his Sherpa friends.

Dave has also led many groups to the top of Ranier and McKinley.

This is turning into a really interesting thread guys. Let's hear from the rest of you.

I'm big into biking and running. I also love to cook. My dad has a culinary arts degree so I learned a TON from watching him. I also used to be an avid gamer, but have been too busy to play lately. Just starting to get back into it.

I am what you might call a bush pilot in Alaska. I fly a Maule aircraft on tundra tires, skis, or floats and have around 1800hrs of flight time roaming the backcountry of Alaska. Often the airplane is used to advance an adventure that may involve climbing, skiing, or packrafting but I do love the flying itself. Adds another dimension to life. It's a good day when I've gotten some flying in. An even better day if I've been flying and get a good jam session in on the guitar!

I love talking about religion and politics so that subject is out the window for this forum. Can't talk about it here. Suffice to say that I'm a card carrying Libertarian.
I often carry a handgun wherever I go, I build my own AR15 rifles to suit my own preferences, I'm one step above a life member of the NRA and former NRA employee so I can't talk about guns here either.
I ride a Harley-Davidson and wear leather riding gear, so according to that wacko sheriff in Waco TX I'm a lawbreakin' criminal. So I guess I can't talk about that here either.
I also like to dabble in professional photography, hire professional models, photograph them with PRS guitars (other brands too) and offer prints of the aforementioned for sale. But I'm sure I can't talk about that here either and I sure as hell can't show you the pictures because the professional models I hire are usually wearing little to nothing in the photos... self explanatory... not allowed.

So I guess there is nothing else I can talk about here except to just talk about PRS guitars. But thanks for asking. :)

Pinball - Own several machines which ya kinda have to these days as they are darn hard to find in the wild anymore
Photography - nothing professional just always looking for the next "Perfect shot"
Cooking - My wife is a lucky lady and she'll be the first to admit it ;-)
Euro-Board games - Catan, Pandemic, Ticket to Ride, Agricola, Dominion, 7 Wonders, etc... Have a gaming group that I meet with monthly to keep the analytical side of my brain active.
Love biking, camping, movies and reading the occasional book too but if I'm headed to the proverbial desert island my PRS is the first thing coming with me then maybe a generator to power a pinball machine :-)

Girls, Guitars & fishing poles have been the 3 things that took up most of my life so far. I love to cook and being Greek, take a lot of pride in my kitchen skills, even studied Japanese cuisine for a short time, but fishing is the other thing that I'm good at. I'm an expert surfcaster, fished both coasts of the USA, done a bit of deep sea & tropic island fishing too. Best fish (not my biggest, but my best fish) was a 93 lb Wahoo in the Bahamas and a 19" Pacific rockfish that was 2" shy of the state record, both were delicious too.

*I also use a reel made by Avet, I consider them to be the PRS of fishing reels, for the money simply the best.

This intrigues me. How does one go about getting into this?

Other than my piqued curiosity in this, I like to read. Mostly war related. Civil War through Iraq and Afghanistan at this point. Although I have some Revolutionary and Indian War books on my "stack" to read. Good fiction as a getaway. At 48, I've probably got enough books in my "stack" to last me 20 years. I was also way into cigars, but that has kind of trailed off in the last couple of years. I still have a wine fridge that I converted into a humidor a few years ago that's packed with sticks. I was an avid 12" softball player, and golfer, but a couple of herniated discs have put an end to those endeavors. I also like to cook, grill and smoke.

It's too bad we can't get into this. Not that I am anti gun, but I'd love to have an adult conversation with someone "with your background/beliefs" on how we can get a handle on things as a society. Unfortunately, that's as far as we'll be able to take this here. Too bad we're not closer to each other. This would be a good thing to chat about over food/drinks and guitars.

Well, I'm not AS into anything else, but after guitars, I'd say college football, basketball and pro football. That's kind of a family event as well, so that adds to the fun. I love craft beers - local, small brewers and such. I don't study or educate myself much on them, but love drinkin' 'em!

I raced motocross and hare scrambles in the 70s and 80s. and yes the older I get the faster I was...I still ride Dual sport events a couple times a year. Also have a thing for old air cooled VWs. Have built a few of those from the ground up over the years and have a street legal 1956 Beetle that I bracket race from time to time and a 1970 VW bus that is ugly but mechanically sound. vchizzle I like beer too:beer:

I cycle a lot and am generally a fan of human powered vehicles.
I like food and drink a lot, especially pie.
I like being on the track, mostly on a motorcycle though might convert to a four wheel bias one of these days.
I have taken tons of photos - and am in fact now digitizing my 35mm film (yes I'm just here killing time while my PC does it thing with them) - I've already digitized all of my tape and vinyl, which might make converting to new media a passion.
I like exploring places - so I travel a lot (founding member of the vacation a month club).
