What Are Your Favorite Guitars To Play?

My 2018 S2 Satin Standard is my favorite to play, because it’s just so comfy. That model had the pattern regular neck at that time, which I prefer, and the beveled top feels really nice. Playing that guitar is like putting on a pair of good quality, but well broken in, sneakers.

Hands down, these two are my favorite players: my all stock Squier 40th Anniversary Vintage Edition Strat, and my modded Squiercaster.

The 40th is just incredible out of the box, great classic SSS tones from the PSE manufactured pickups, excellent fretwork along with rolled fingerboard edges. Stunning looks, great weight and balance, it's a joy to play. I fibbed, I did change out the stock aged white plastics to all black...

However, Trouble, my Squiercaster is my go-to. This one growls, it's sweaty and mean, thanks to Mike Riley's fantastic loaded pickguard. This 2000 Squier SE started life as a Strat player pack guitar, sold at big box stores Costco, Sam's Club and Walmart. Mike got a hold of this one a few years back, modded it out and I bought it. I made one major change to Trouble, I swapped out the original rosewood neck with a Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster Deluxe neck. Perfection! Love that articulate maple snap. The CV neck swap reduced overall guitar weight, and now this beast is my most weight balanced guitar, it just feels so right either hanging from shoulder or on my leg. I pick Trouble up, and it just feels right. It feels like s Strat, and it begs to be played. This is my #1...

You've got the boss outfit to wear with it, too!

Right now my favorites are:

S2 McCarty 594 with custom shop Pearly Gates pickups wound by MJ.

2001 Santana SE - Duncan custom shop "Blonde Dot" pickups also wound by MJ. I have had this one since it was new.

Partscaster Tele with a pine body and an 2 piece rosewood neck. It has DiMarzio Area T pickups (615 bridge). It's one of those rare guitars that feels like it contains every possible emotion.
