What Are Your Favorite Guitars To Play?

Today I Am Playing My All Korina/Brazillian Board McCarty. I Love The Simplicity And Feel Of The McCarty Model And I Am Particularly Fond Of The Wrap Bridge. I Prefer It To The 2 Piece. A Simple, Versatile And Dependable Guitar That Just Works Beautifully.

We have very similar taste. Love the OG McC platform for the same reasons. Have two, my favourite being an all korina McSoapy (no brazz board). Simply lovely.

Hopefully, when my 7 yr old daughter finally sleeps, I will pick up one of my McCs as well.

Laskin classical: as good as a nylon guitar gets
Laskin steel old growth Brazilian: rings like a bell tower
Viola: full braz hand carved neck, dry rub dye - the ultimate dark and stormy
Dirty 100: pure everyday guitar, perfect midnight blues
Emperial: Thorn at his best - play it smooth or sloppy, great for finger style
This list is very interesting!

Here are my favorites I’ve been playing a lot the past few months.

Old school McCarty, 1997-2008. I've stated many times on this forum that the first time I played a McCarty, it felt like it was specifically made for me.

2017 Gibson ES-335. Not a reissue. Plays almost as well as my McCartys and has a different but equally great sound. Very fun guitar.

The rest are fun and have their merits, but don't get gigged much.

I've had many PRSi's over the years but the one that has remained since I ordered it new is my '07 Gold Top McCarty. That's a guitar that just feels like home to me. Love the neck a lot on that guitar; not too much of a handful but enough so my hand doesn't get fatigued during an hour to hour+ set. The original pickups back then were to me, very dark, so today I've got a set of Joe Naylor's Railhammer Hyper Vintage humbuckers in that guitar, and have had them in there since the Railhammers first were available (I even got the set at a "low introductory price" upon the first release of them before there were covers available). I've also had them wired Series/Parallel with Push/Push pots and I use a mini TC Spark clean boost to compensate for the slight volume loss when I go to Parallel for a bit of spanky-ier Tele-style voice so I don't lose the humbucker no-noise and have to mess with the amp volume on stage; that works real well for me, it covers a lot of ground. Here's that guitar:

And although it's not from Maryland, my other go-to guitar is a Fender Nashville Tele. You can see that I like a lot of voicing and tonal options in a guitar. This one has a great, super broken-in feeling rolled-edge neck with med-jumbo wire that is just so easy to get around on. With the 5-way selector and the pull-up tone control for the classic Tele Neck&Bridge-combo voice and the ability to use the middle Strat pickup by itself, again, I've got all the voicing options I need. It's not a crazy-expensive guitar but it sure sounds good, making it easy to serve the song and it plays great. Variety is the spice of life.
