Local luthier has this in on consignment... Plays very nice, sounds good, in decent shape. There are some nicks and scratches and the hardware is a little oxidized. I would imagine the metal parts would polish up well. No idea if the original pups are in it or what they should even be. I would definitely require them being pulled out if I was to buy it to verify. I didn't look over the case so no idea if any of the candy is there or if it's the original case. Not sure about the trem arm either. What you see in the pics is all I know right now.

Looks like a CE24. Highly regarded by many PRS enthusiasts from what I've heard (never tried one myself). Probably HFS/Vintage Bass pickups if they're stock. If it's a good price, grab it!

Edit: just saw the price tag. Grab it!!!

Looks like a nice little CE24, don't know the year on it but I'm sure someone will chime in with more specifics. Is it a good deal? Those are regarded as really great guitars

It's been hanging there at that price for about 9 months. I made a deal with myself. If it is still hanging there when I get my bonus from work I am bringing it home. I thought the price was right.

According to the serial lookup it's a 2002. It is priced at $995 at the moment. Probably could buy it for $950. About half of the craigslist ce 24's in the area but it's definitely seen more use.

Yep, 2002 CE24 in Blue Matteo. Should have the rectangular black tolex case with black interior. Electronics likely stock. As already said, should be HFS/Vintage Bass pickups.

Are there any features I would give up going with one of this age? Would I gain anything over an older one? I have a couple SE's now(245 and a singlecut) and I have been around the forums for a while so get the gist of the core line.

CEs are pretty much same same over the years except for the early ones (pre-94) which had Alder bodies. A lot of people (even Ed Roman!) swear that those guitars are some of the best PRS ever...

Personal, I'd grab it right now.....that's a steal

I would if we weren't a week off Christmas. >.< sleeping on it is an excuse. 2 young kids, entertaining family for the holidays, ect is gonna make me be patient. I haven't been in the shop since last spring and didn't pull the trigger then and could have never imagined it would still be there. My wife will murder me in my sleep when I come home with it but at least I'll die as a prs core owner!

It's a great guitar and a decent price. I personally don't get excited about CE guitar sales until the $1000 level. If I can get them at $900 I'm ready to buy. Walk in with 9 new $100 bills and I bet you walk out with it. This is assuming the case is in good shape.

Being consignment makes it a little harder. Can't wave them under the owners nose and he loses the shop cut off the top. I'll see what can be done lol.

This.

Even as a consignment, money talks. A quick phone call to the owner, and I bet the deal is done. Particularly since it has been in the shop so long.

And... CEs are the SH!T!! You won't regret it.

Yup, I assumed you bit the bullet, sorry. ...love the PRS bolt- ons...different feel, and different tones...great axes!! C'mon...sell a kidney or something...

Does it have Phase II tuners on it, or wings? 2002 was the transition year. If it's Phase II, it's the final evolution of the model. Hard to beat it. Compared to anything current, it has the rotary, which is a divisive feature. It's easy enough to convert to a toggle if you don't like it, though. It won't have the V12 finish, but there's nothing wrong with the old style finish. Tonally, it's like a snappier Custom. About the closest thing nowadays is a CU24 Artist with maple neck, which will cost you like four times as much new.
