What a stunning gift...

over/under-- on Ebay/Reverb in 2 years?
Joking aside, that is one nice gift.
"Where is the neck matching custom hanging stand at", is what he was thinking during the silent part, lol

Incredible gift. You can’t put a price on that kind of a investment made in you by another person. Great story.

I saw this also. Very cool. Just a thought. This guitar has been significantly changed from its original form and is effectively a new custom guitar. So how is that reflected on the serial number and how it is classified going forward, since the work was essentially done by PRS?

Thats a lifer :)

Love the back story and that he had the tenacity to spend all that time making a refinished guitar for his pal & mentor

Love it, and great paint job, needs to be a core offering, with that black burst thing over the sands, perfect

Nice to see Phil getting something, he is a great youtuber ;)

What's everyone's thoughts on the switching system?

I get the toggle being closer, but I'd find it too close to my hand. I kinda like the Dustie Waring locations, but am anti-floyd.

Seems to work for him, but I wouldn't want it on one of my guitars. The toggle's in a bad spot for me, and I'd want the volume much closer to where my hand is.

Glad you asked, because as the guy who did the project, I have no idea! I took some liberties when doing this, and one of the things I did was put the original serial number back on the headstock, mostly because I wanted it to look correct. The work was done my employees at PRS, but it wasn't done by PRS. Almost everything, with the exception of buying the parts I needed, was done off the books and on our own time.

I’ve never heard of a serial number changing no matter how much custom work is done. When a guitar goes to PTC to be customized, nothing happens with the serial number. I’d consider this to be similar. The bones of the guitar own the serial number IMO.

Excellent thing you did for Phil! Great job by all involved in the project.
