Westies

I’m curious about westies. Are certain years better than others? I see one on reverb that looks nice but I don’t know enough about the different ones to make an educated decision. I’m not sure I’m ready to buy but I guess I could if it was something special. Help me become less ignorant about this model because I feel like it is something special.

I currently have a 24-08 w/ 58/15 mt’s, a Paul’s guitar, and a 594 double cut which all have their own space sonically. It’s unlikely I’ll have a chance to play one before I buy it. Can you tell me where the Westies would fit in regards to what I currently have? I also have a sg standard 61 but I don’t suspect that would come into play with a Westie. Any insight is appreciated.

The Westie’s are a smallish run all done in the same timeframe to a common spec. A couple of spares were made after the initial run, but they have found their permanent home.

Here's a pretty good write up. 300 made between 2007 and 2008. Of all of the guitars I have, the Westie will be the last to go. It is my favorite, for sure. All mahogany, Sapele top. Unplated brass trem. 24.5" scale, 24 frets. Tone monster!

Did you change the pickups in the natural one? I think this is my next PRS. I see six or seven on reverb now.

The one in the 2nd pick came with some other pickups, with the originals in the case. I have not bothered to change them back, yet. I don't recall what brand are in there. They're from some small boutique pick up company.

Honestly, Westie’s are pretty much the guitar I am most passionate about (along with KL33’s and Santana’s). Deeper carve, bigger necks, shorter scale... it’s the perfect loud egotistical man’s guitar.

I cannot recommend another guitar more than a West Street Limited.

Thank you for educating me on these. This will be my next one. I thought I was done for awhile. The stable of beautiful guitars I see here in truly amazing! How much bigger is the neck on these than what's on the 594?
