Well, I went all in on Pattern Regular

I just got back from selling my ME1. I didn't think I would ever see the day but nothing feels like home to me as a Pattern Regular neck. I have been talking to different people about getting my 594 neck reshaped but I couldn't do it to an ME.

I am sure I might occasionally regret it but as for now I am excited to be looking around for a replacement. I'm not sure exactly what I will find. Maybe I will find a Private Stock or another 22 fret with a rosewood neck. Maybe a DGT or 408. The hunt begins.

Enjoy the hunt!

I have a 30th Anniversary PS with a Pattern Regular, and can only agree, it's a very sweet-feeling neck shape. One thing I like about it is that the strings are slightly closer together, which makes picking a little faster for me, because I learned on guitars with about this neck width.

Highly recommended if you can find one.

I’ve posted pics of it before, and apologize if it’s repetitive.

You can never post to many pictures of that beauty.

A hearty thanks on behalf of the guitar!

I think it has something to do with the Madagascar RW fretboard, and maybe the nitro (or maybe I just got lucky), but the tone is creamier than most CU24s from that period.

Yes, it still has the focus of a CU24, and when you want it's capable of some bite, but there's a warm, sweet quality to the tone at the same time, and that's what knocks my socks off. It's kind of hard to explain what I mean in words, of course. But it reminds me of the tone of a guitar that's been around for 60 years, even though it can still sound right up to the minute.

I have no idea if all the guitars in that run are like it. But if you're looking for a nice guitar with the neck you like, they're worth checking out.

PS - not trying to push you to get something I've got, goodness knows we all play differently and have our own tastes. Just being as objective as I can be in describing what the thing can do.

It's all good. I know where you are coming from. If you ever throw it in your dumpster let me know, I'm not that far away. I will fish it out. ;-)

I love the finish and quilt on that guitar!

I went the other way. I like the Pattern Regular on my Core McCarty, but then I made the mistake of buying a 594 S2. Now I have 3 more 594's. 1 Core, 1 Wood Library, and another S2. It's a sickness. I sold my 59 LP Reissue to get the Wood Library.
