I like Paul Gilbert.
There is high humor value in his playing.
I have learned a few things from his on line lessons.
He has a way of explaining stuff that I can actually understand.

and...

He totally rocks a clip on headstock tuner.
Nobody else can do that.
:p

He has some badass skills but he stays tasteful which is exactly what I love about his style.

Huge Gilbert fan here (and even bigger Mr. Big fan). He’s part of my big 3 including Nuno and Eddie.

I took a class with Gilbert last year at Sweetwater. It was really interesting and he seems to be a really nice guy.
Wow, a class with PG. That has to be a bit intimidating .

From what I've seen I'd believe him to be a pretty decent guy.

Define “party rock.” Maybe I’m just unfamiliar with that term, but the first two Mr. Big albums are awesome.

mr big is like church music compared to racer x, i think it’s the singer.

i was kidding— although i did hope pg would be the next big player when i heard live extreme volume. then he put out that horrible song about waiting in line to have sex and killed guitar rock.

I saw a very entertaining clinic with Paul in which he played a bunch of cool guitar, showed off his "all E strings" 4 string guitar, talked a lot about how much he loved pop music, and got me really fired up to learn "Walking on the Moon."

The really weird part was that this was in Edinburgh, Scotland and he mentioned that he lived in Portland then, which is far closer to my home in Washington state than Edinburgh!

Me too. All the way back to the Racer X days. Saw Mr. Big once, back in the 90s. Great show.

Two questions:

1 - Where do you go to church?

2- what horrible song are you talking about?

african methodist episcopal but i’m actually freewill southern baptist.

the song is called ‘the nexts to be with you’ and it’s the worst thing and there is barely any guitar on it. kind of like john cougar only not quite because no autoharp. have you ever heard the john cougar version of ‘no quarter’?

Ok, well familiar with the song. Perhaps the description threw me off a bit.

I thought maybe you went to Metal Church.
