Was There Ever...or Am I Imagining It?

Was there ever a Custom 24-08 with the 408 pickups (the larger bridge pickup and the smaller neck)? I could've sworn they did a run of these but can't find an example in my searches.

I know they did the Brushstroke 24, which was kinda like a 24 fretted Paul's Guitar, and of course the 24-08's with full sized humbuckers...but I was all but certain they did a Custom 24-08 with 408 pickups.

Anybody seen one of these? Am I just imagining these actually existed?

The only thing I can think of is a PS build, but I have no specific examples to provide.

No production run that I am aware of. But my awareness universe seems to shrink every day, so...

I even utilized the Waybackmachine to look at the PRS website from previous years, but couldn't find anything there. Found the Brushstroke 24 and the Experience 24-08 LTD, but not the build I'm thinking of.

Starting to think I simply imagined it....

What you may be thinking of is the PRS 408, which was offered from 2013 through about 2018. The 408 switching morphed into the 509 and eventually into the Custom 24-08. I don't think I've ever seen the 408 pickups on a 24-fret guitar.

Yeah, it'd basically be the 24 fret version of the 408....same pickups and switching.

More and more, it's sounding like I imagined it....or maybe saw a Private Stock build at some point.

The thread about the Brushstroke 24 is what got my wheels turning on this.

Well, the current Core & S2 Custom 24-08 have the squished TCI pickups. Maybe mistook them for 408's?

Nah, definitely had the mental image of a 24 fret 408….and definitely in years past.

And yeah, the squished squabbins (ala Paul’s Guitar) were in the Brushstroke 24 and current iteration of the 24-08.

Again, probably saw a Private Stock at some point or something. If I find an image at some point I’ll have to come back here and post it to prove to myself I’m not crazy (at least about this) haha.

Wow, that's incredible. The only thing that ruins it for me is the greenish tint in the middle. Looks like a bruise that's healing.
