I have a set of these in a 2020 Se Standard that I just love. Easily became exactly what I like.
I'd like to get another set to put in an Epi SG Vibrola, which has the ProBuckers in them...that are ok. But nowhere near the 8515s in my opinion...at least what I like.

The numbers on my pickups are, with a big white sticker in the middle:
P4145-1 PRS 8515-TNU-B-ZEBRA VER 03.2020 (in the neck position)
PTP4144-1 PRS 8515-BNU-N-ZEBRA VER 03.2020 (in the bridge position)

A couple questions...
1. Are these pickups reversed and in the wrong location? Maybe by accident why I like them?
2. I've seen VER 10...all other numbers the same...except 2021 for the year. Basically same pickup, but slightly newer?
3. Mine are Zebra pickups. I've seen all black with the same numbers... I'm guessing still the same pickup?
4. Lastly...will these SE pickups vary much from set to set?...or do they seem pretty consistent?

Any other info on SE 8515s pickups appreciated...like how the B&G differ and any others used earlier.
I like these, because they give a nice clear tone, put have a nice output that pretty much crank over all my other humbuckers....and they're still only in the 7+Volt readings

There are plenty of low cost sets on the internet, I'm ready to grab, but wanted to clear up these last couple of questions.
thanks in advance!

The spare set I have are all black:

PTP4145 PRS 8515-TNU-B VER 10.2021
PTP4144 PRS 8515-BNU-N VER 10.2021

They came out of my SE CE-24 Standard Satin when I installed the \m/ pair. Not sure about consistency since these are the first set I've had.

Yes...I have seen those on the net and appear to be on guitars AFTER my 2020 SE model.
Other than non-zebra....I wonder if there is a sonic difference, if any.
The older B&G pickups from Korea I'm seeing replies, they aren't as bright sounding.

Does PRS or Paul talk about pickups anywhere, in some sort of depth?
Really not a heck of a lot on the internet after some vigorous searching.
Not just generalizations, but more a historical timeline?

Btw.. what I like about my 2020 SE 85/15s is that they are hot pickups ( more modern sounding to me) and the clean up to a nice "hi-fi" quality. The coil tap with both pickups engaged really leans towards that Stratocaster quack sound too...but different of course.
Maybe I'm uneducated for liking such budget pickups, but my wallet thanks me.

I agree. I have two S2 Standard 24s and an SE Custom, all with 85/15s pickups. I played Strats for most of my life, and I love the clarity and hi-fi quality of these pickups. I never favored humbuckers, but I love these, especially for cleans. I know a lot of players like to pop other pickups in these guitars, but I’m keeping them in for sure.
